Splitting meals on DDP

Boyfriend and I will be down first week in feb and was wondering if anyone was able to split a meal at the yachtsmen steakhouse, beaches and cream or via napoli while using their DDP? We would probably pay OOP for an appetizer and the extra drink but Im not sure what the general rule is

Yatchsman, yes. But Beaches and Cream and Via Napoli are the only two restaurants at WDW (besides the fixed price restaurants) where we have multiple reports that they will not allow guests on DDP to split meals. You'd each have to spend a credit.

My husband and I have both had bariatric surgery and are physically incapable of eating a full sized meal. We have a reservation at Via Napoli. We have our "cards" that show proof of surgery. Do you think they will still require us to use two credits?

They will still require you to each use a credit for your meals. It is up to the discretion of each restaurant whether you can share or not, but Via Napoli is notoriously strict on that policy. Having a special card won't help you.

Are you getting free dining. If not since you can't eat a whole meal apiece do you eat more often otherwise the dining plan may not be worth the price.
