splitting meals and last minute PS?

Hi all

My DH and myself are escaping reality tomorrow for a couple days- I was wondering if you can make a PS like a day in advance? Or do you think it will be all booked? I always read how far in advance everyone does it!!

Also- how do the restaurants feel about splitting meals? I was thinking of the one in France for lunch but I know that I wont be hungry enough for a whole sandwich- I was thinking of the soup and a burger to split? Do they frown upon that??

Yes to both of your questions.

We have made PS's a day before and even on the same day. Sometimes you might not get the exact time you requested but you'll probably be able to get in.

As far as sharing meals, we ALWAYS share and have never had a problem. The way I figure it, it's my lunch or dinner and I'm paying the check, so if I want to share its my business. We do leave a larger tip, however, so that the server is compensated for the time we are at the table. Besides, the portions are so large, it is just wasteful NOT to share!

We always split our meals. Some places will even plate the split for us to each have a plate, instead of us doing it at the table. The portions are huge. If you get hungry later, there is always a snack cart at every turn and corner.
