Splitting DVC among family

We are doing with another family but they want to pay for their vacation. If they need 100 points, what is a fair asking price per point?:)

i did this in the past with my brother. i think we 'charged' $5/pt. however when family goes with us we don't charge and we end up getting lots of dreadful(OK.mediocre) disney meals bought for us:flower3:

Ok, Say a single woman wants to buy DVC and will buy it outright, so no finacing, and will pay all the MF (and can afford to for the duration of the contract) wants to add her sister onto the contract for the sole purpose of being able to get the discounts in another household. Still a bad Idea?? I'm thinking you are going to say yes! or that this case is not possible. but still would like some thoughts!

It's very possible and some have done so, including myself. IMO, it is a bad idea for most situations. That person becomes an owner to the % of the number of names listed. It's technically included in financial aid calculations, a sale could be forced or a lien applied if there were financial issues and any heirs would technically be entitled to the ownership. It simply creates issues and areas for misunderstandings. Verbal representations are often not remembered the same by all groups. OTOH, it does open up potential discounts and benefits, esp the AP discount. If one is inclined to do this I'd suggest considering a 25 points add on then changing the deed making it a separate contract. A little aggravation but little risk and serves the purpose of giving member status to family members.

It comes down to "how much do you really trust your sister - and not just now, but for the next three to five decades."

Remember that DVC can change perks at any time. You could add her to the contract and then the AP discount could disappear next year. But she'd still be on your contract. And if she then marries a guy who turns out to have a gambling problem and ends up declaring bankruptcy - you could lose your DVC to give her a few bucks in discounts she never got the chance to exercise. Or she dies, and in her will leaves everything to her adult child (not specifying DVC), now you own points with a relative stranger.

I am 100% certain that there are plenty of sisters out there where you could do this and have no worries at all. And I love my own sisters, but one turned out to have a major alcohol problem that resulted in bankruptcy (surprise!) and the other married a man I wouldn't want to share dessert with, much less DVC.
