I am correct that I can pay for two adults and one child with points, and add a second child paying with cash?

Anyoen have an idea what that woudl cost for the 4 day cruise?

And how far out shoudl I book?

Will they let you book certain cabins? Are certain categorys filled up fast using points?

Thansk so much!

You may book a cruise 11 months in advance. You will have the choice of all rooms still available. In most cases, the cruises have been available for cash reservations for several months before DVC members reach the 11 month window. (The 2005 cruises were released months ago for all 3 and 4 night cruises and for 7 night cruises thru May 7, 2005 - the remaining 7 night cruises should be released soom for cash reservations.)

DVC has negotiated both the points needed and the cash amounts for the cruises (I don't think the 2005 point charts are available as yet though). In some cases the DVC cash rates are better than the rates directly thru DCL. In other cases, the regular cash rates are a better price (but you couldn't use points for those rates).

A call to MS can give you the cash rates for the dates you're interested in cruising.

Good luck! :)

Yes.....we did this for our 2002 4 day cruise.

Anyoen have an idea what that woudl cost for the 4 day cruise?
I can't really answer this because rates have gone up since '02 and it also depends on which season you travel in. We cruised in early November and I recall we paid approximately $350 for a cash add-on in our cat 6 stateroom-----this was for an adult though.

And how far out shoudl I book?
We booked 11 months out but probably didn't need to since I don't believe our November cruise was sold out. But if you want high season (summer/holidays) and a cat 10, 11 or 12, you should probably book as soon as you know what your plans are as these rooms go the quickest. When you book with points and cash, MS will require the entire amount of cash ressie at time of reservation.

I'm honestly not sure if they'll let u book specific staterooms #'s ? If you don't get an answer here, then I'd try some of the experts over on the cruise board. I can tell you the above categories I mentioned seemed to book first whether cash or points.
So when are you looking to cruise Shan ? :boat:

Member Services acts as your travel agent when booking the Disney cruise on points and/or points and cash.

You can choose from available rooms and categories, so it is helpful to have an idea of what you are looking for before calling to reserve. Do hop on over to the Cruise Board where you will find lots of great cruise info! :)

The point chart for DCL vacations is available on the member pageof the DVC website so you can check that out to determine how many points you'll need for your cruise.

This is actually not for a trip until June 2006! LOL
We wnated to wait and do the cruise when our youngest coudl possibly sit through a nice meal! :p

But, I was fooling around yesterday trying to see how I was gonna either bank or borrow and figured out we could pay for three of us with points (Although, I know thsi is an estimate since the points coudl chnage by then.) and one of our girls with cash. We'd then still have enough from the year we borrow from to have a week long vacation in a studio so we woudln't be out a year on a vacaction. Hubby agreed it sounded liek a good plan.

It will still be hard as we've becoem accustomed to a few trips a year and thsoe two years we'll only have oen trip each! The horror! (Like I'm sure I'll manage a Pop Century trip in there or soemthing.... ;) )

I know renting out my points to use for the cruise might be a betetr option, but the thought scares me a little and it seems liek soem work?

At eleven months out to book are catergory 9 cabins usually avaialble? Anyoen know?

I can't completely answer this question, but if you look at the deck plans on www.disneycruise.com, there aren't that many Cat9s.

We cruised last May, booked at the 11 month window and had a wide variety of choices. We also booked with cash & points.

Be aware however that the cash you pay must be given IN FULL at the time of booking. Also they would not accept my AMEX card for the cash portion- it had to be on MC/Visa or check mailed within one week.

Also, when you book with points at all, you can't take advantage of those shipboard credit offers.

***We booked the same cabin category as my Sis, who booked at 11 months out with cash only. Same number of kids,etc...and we REALLY felt like we got a good deal. It was value season for points...**** Either way you will have a great time!!!! ::yes::
