We are going w/my MIL on her DVC points to WLV in Jan 2009 - she says my name is on the reservation in addition to hers, but I'm not sure how it works in terms of putting down a credit card for misc. expenses to charge to our room - will my & DH's room keys be able to be linked to our credit card, and my MIL's to hers? We are doing the DDP as well, so I don't know if that complicates things in terms of credits, etc. Will we have to all be linked to one credit card & then do the math at the end? Thanks!

If you are all in one villa you can only have one credit card on file. On the last evening you can go to the desk and ask that the charges made to specific room keys be separated out and paid with whichever credit card you want to use. We have done this on a number of occasions with no problem. That will leave the others on the bill with the original card. If you all check in at the same time you can each pay for your DDP with your own cards at that time.

Fab- that's great to know that they can separate by key and I can pay separately!

So you pay for the DDP in advance upon check in? I wasn't sure how that worked. To complicate things - if we put DDP on different credit cards at check in, will our room keys have just my family's credits attached to it, or everyone's in the villa? (I'd actually prefer it that way, so if my MIL & FIL take my kids off away from us for a meal they can have access to the kids' dining credits, etc.)

All the keys have all the credits on them. the credits are pooled together so at anytime any of the cards could be used.

Keep in mind, when the credit card placed on the room reaches a predetermined limit, they will charge the amount on the card and start over with a new limit. This is only a problem if you go down to change the card to your own and find the original card has already been charged, which has happened to us. The limit varies, some say $1,000, some $1,500 and some higher.

The limit varies based upon the accommodations. Deluxe and DVC is $1500.00.

One of the previous posters said it worked well for them. However, that was NOT the case for my mothersand my two sisters. We each paid upon arrival for the DDP.
They had told us we could split charges upon departure. This was undoubtedly the biggest mess I have ever seen. They had charged some items twice. It took well over an hour to sort through all the charges and try to get them straightened out.

By far, the best would have been for each to just take the credit card along with the room key and use it. We will never ever do that again!

Ugh - I don't want it to turn into a nightmare for us, esp. not on my last night there. Here's a question - (well, 2 ?s) - if I'm buying something in a store with my credit card instead of my KTTW card, will they still send back to the resort for me, or only if I charge to my room? And - I just thought of this - do they even do that for DVC members (send packages back to your resort for you), or is that only if you're a regular paying resort-stayer?

There is no difference between DVC members and regular, cash-paying WDW resort guests. We are all treated the same way, with the same perks. They will definitely send your packages back to the resort for you, no matter what form of payment you use.

Yes, they will send back packages for all resort guests, using any type of payments. If, say, the main guest listed on the room, still wanted to use the key for purchases to be charged back, that would probably work. And have other guests just use their personal credit cards for purchases in the parks. As I previously said, it was just a big mess. We stayed a full week and had 4 people using their room keys. In fact, it took so long, we missed lunch before leaving and rushed just to get on the Magic Express.
