Split Stays?

Would you ever do a split stay with two monorail resorts just to try different resorts?

This will be our 15 year anniversary and also my 40th birthday celebration so we are trying not to look at price this vacation so now I'm trying to think of all of our options that we never had before!
We are definitely staying Poly but thinking of doing a split. 2 nights somewhere else and the other 5 at poly.
We are doing Tuesday to Tuesday and want to stay at WDW the whole time but will be ubering to Seaworld one day and UO/IOA another day and then getting a 5 day tickets for disney. I was thinking maybe start our vacation off at AKL and do the nondisney parks the first two nights and then head over to Poly for the last 5 nights where we will be at disney parks. Only thing is I was hoping to go to seaworld and UO on the weekend days but that's not a big deal.
We also stayed at AKL in November and while I love it, I want to try a new resort.
Is there another way we should split our week to make it more convenient? Maybe do an epcot resort for the days we do epcot and HS? We are most likely only getting base tickets.

We did a split stay this past May and loved it. We stayed at GF and while there we focused on Magic Kingdom, resort day, and one day at animal kingdom. We then switched to Boardwalk Inn and focused on Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

It was the perfect Disney trip. We only had to get on a bus one day (animal kingdom).

We always do a split stay, even if for 4 or 5 nights, easy when it is just DH and me. We like to try and experience 2 different resorts in one vaca. A saving grace of our upcoming F&W vaca is that that when we booked our October F&W vaca 10 months in advance, we had no idea of the Jambo pool renovation starting right after Labor Day(we still haven't received any notification via letter)then exactly at 7 months, we switched nights to Bay Lake Tower. .Thankfully, pool inconvenience of having to use Kidani pool will just be 2 days. Another advantage of booking a split stay! We did a split stay one year, GF and Beach Club(Stormalong is our fav pool) and one other year, Poly and Boardwalk. This way you will have the convenience from the Boardwalk resorts to Epcot and HS!

If I was to do a split stay with a visit to USO/IOA during the first part of the split, I would spend that time at a Universal hotel in order to get the FOTL and early park access.

I know we were thinking that but then it’s a whole process to get transportation from airport then to sea world then to Disney. But it’s definitely a possibility

I almost always do split stays but I do mine with a value or moderate the first night or two then move to an Epcot resort, whichever one is less (lately that has been Dolphin). I do them because I drive down and get there between 1 and 2, we go immediately to park and usually stay at a park until after supper. It doesn't make sense to pay for a deluxe for that first night since we are just sleeping in the room. We tend to do MK and AK our first two days, Epcot and HS are our favorite parks and being able to walk to both from the resort is what sells us on the Epcot resorts. We will go to either AK or MK the second day of our trip to get all bus riding out of the way, which is why sometimes I'll do 2 nights in the value or moderate since you have to ride a bus to AK no matter where you stay. I've stayed at all the monorail resorts, Poly used to be our go to resort before the Epcot resorts opened up. We like the resorts well enough but do not like being tied down to the monorail to get to Epcot and having to bus to two parks as opposed to walking. MK is a half day park for us, although we always have PHs (I have an AP, sometimes my son does, sometimes not) so we might hop over there for a hour or two on some other day if there is a ride I particularly want to ride that we didn't do the first time.

I second the suggestion of a split with an Epcot resort. I just had my first stay at BWI and loved it! The Poly is my favorite overall, but BWI was amazing and runs a close second to the Poly for me. I think splitting between a MK resort and Epcot resort is the best of both worlds. Enjoy the planning .

I love split stays, but I wouldn't do two Magic Kingdom resorts. One thing I really like about split stays is getting two different experiences on one trip. Doing Poly and then an Epcot resort will allow you to have two days where you can walk to parks or you could do Animal Kingdom Lodge and be near Animal Kingdom. I love that hotel and its super unique. Something you might want to consider is doing a night at a Universal hotel to get the express pass for free, maybe have that be your split stay instead? I think I love the Universal deluxe resorts more than Disney's.

I love split stays, in order I would choose:

1. Split stay with a Universal resort. These resorts are great and have some awesome food options (personally recommend Bice) and the FOTL and early entry are worth it. If it is just the two of you I would just Uber/Lyft between the different places you are going.

2. Split with an Epcot resort (my recommendation is YC for the more adult feel and great pool). Being able to walk to Epcot and DHS is awesome.

Thanks for the suggestions. We will also have our 10 year old and almost 3 year old. We have stayed at bc twice and hubby hates clowns and refuses to stay at bwi. I’m starting to think staying at UO for two nights then poly for the other 5 is the way to go. I’m going to sit down and figure out a mock itinary and see how it plays out.

Splits are easy! We did one last year, and we're doing one again in September. 2 nights at POP, 4 nights at Poly. Leave on split morning, bring your luggage to bell services (it's faster than calling and you usually have to go past bell services to leave the resort), tell them where you're going, go have fun in the parks, go home to your new resort and call bell services to bring your luggage.
