Split stays- lost luggage possible?

Hi, we have a split stay planned in June. I have done splits before but always opt to move our luggage via taxi. This time I am really tempted to have them move the luggage. However I am afraid of lost luggage. I am pooh size so if luggage did get lost I don't have anyway to buy new clothes. Has Disney ever lost luggage and if so for how long? Thanks

On my last trip to WDW my flight got cancelled and so I opted to stay on property instead of risk a night on an airport floor. So front desk said they would coordinate my luggage move from AKL to WL and although the luggage didn't get lost, it took HOURS and HOURS to get there. Like, I think it went via Universal! I was caught in a rainstorm and freezing cold, stressed, exhausted and not a happy bunny at all.
This year I'm doing a split stay for the first time and I think I will trust them to do my luggage transfer BUT I will request it first thing in the morning and not expect to see my bags again until bedtime. In a 12 hour time-frame they might manage! Good luck, hope it goes well.

We have never had a problem with lost luggage at WDW. We frequently do split stays and have always used bell services to accomplish the move. We generally hand over our luggage before leaving for a park early in the morning and it has always been at our new resort when our room was ready. We do always tip both the pick up bellman and the delivery bellman.

If you have them move it, it will take quite a while. Don't expect to see it again until later that night, you will not get it immediately. That is not how it works. If you are stressed about it, I would just move your bags yourself via taxi like before.

When at Disney, time is $. If you dress in the AM and keep a few things in a backpack (medications, toothbrush, sunscreen) and don't plan on returning to your next resort until dinner or so, you will have saved time and enjoyed the parks. We've never had a problem leaving our luggage in the hands of bell services.

We have done several split stays. We leave our luggage in the morning and it's always been there by 4. Often it has included food items.
