We are waiting for the 09 rates to come out. I currently have Pop booked for 1-4-09 -1-11-09. Maybe CBR or POFQ? If the Price is good Maybe WL or AK

Wouldn't do a split stay with a large family or perhaps with small children. When It's just DW and I, it's great, like getting two vacations in one. For us, the trick is not to waste a day doing the move. Let bell services pick up your luggage first thing in the morning, then go off to a park for the day. At our convenience at the end of the day, we just go to the second resort, check in and call for the luggage to be delivered. If you have any items that you just can't be withou during the day (prescription medications come to mind), then carry those items with you.

We've done a split stay and it wasn't too bad- although packing to unpack that night was a bit of a pain. However watching the kids faces when they realized we still had few days still at WDW, and in a deluxe hotel, was priceless

I am with the above poster, if I had small children I wouldn't do it. . .but instead of waiting for bell services to pick up the luggage, I drop it off at bell services cause I am up WAY too early to wait for them. . .They move the luggage to your new hotel and later that evening you get your room and your luggage. . .woo hoo. . .

Only done it once, forced into it from Poly not having all the nights we wanted, and that cured us of split stays. We saw no advantage in doing a split, lived out of the suitcase for 3 nights, move day gave luggage to bell services and didn't see them until way after 3 pm same day. We never stay in a park opening to close but like to come back to the resort and dip in the pool, have a picnic lunch, change clothes, shower and plain relax. Being roomless on moving day is awful, you basically have to stay in a park, too sweaty and tiring for us or hang around the resort lobby waiting for your room, which can be quite a wait, and then waiting on your luggage.

We like to stash our stuff, set up our room to our liking, put groceries away and get the drinks chilling and just relax for the duration. We've been to WDW 40 times and we've got our resort down to where we want to stay, no more resort testing we've been to most and we prefer location and price so we know where we're going. Others like the split but we just not fond of them, To each their own.

We did a split stay once but we had a car so the moving of the luggage was not a problem for us.

However, after that (and a trip to New England where we moved from state to state every day), my husband and son said no more. They wanted to get settled into the room, establish their patterns, be able to leave their stuff out all day. I have to admit, they were totally right (I haven't ever told *them* that!).

We have done this a few times and love to go from one resort to another. We usually start at a value and then move to our favorite resort, AKL. It also has allowed us to see what other resorts are like. This next trip we will stay one night at POP and then move to ASmovies. We had to take a flight that put us in WDW one day earlier than our package starts and we wanted to see what
POP was like so booked for only one night. My kids have always gotten really excited with our resort moves and it has never been a hassle.

Split stays are a great way to try a more expensive hotel that you otherwise couldn't afford for the entire week. I am a DVC member and have done it even with the timeshare points. Didn't have enough points for a 1 bedroom villa for the whole week, so stayed in a studio in one place and then the villa for the remaining nights in another hotel.

Granted I do pack light. Always just take a carryon in the plane because I want to run to my National rental car in the OIA garage and drive to WDW without any other stops. If you have a car all you do is toss the luggage in and go to a park for the day then check in your hotel when you are done.

If you don't have a car give your bags to the bell hop stations first thing in the morning and go to a park. They lock up your bags and will deliver them for you.

I have done it with a little one and they don't know the difference. In fact they think it is great. A different bed to jump on when they get there!:thumbsup2

Hi
I'm trying a split stay for the first time in August. With the summer discount, I booked 3 nights at WL, which I've always wanted to stay in, and then we're doing 4 nights at POFQ. The day we go over to POFQ is our day off for swimming at the resort and then shopping in DTD. So we'll just get a taxi, take our luggage with us and check in early in POFQ and then spend the day swimming. If our room isn't ready, I'll have them hold our luggage until it is. I'm hoping this all works out. Can't wait to stay in WL!!!

I guess that I am just odd, I can't imagine settling into a room only to have to pack everything back up, move and unpack again. We are going for 10 nites in August and part of the vacation is to relax. I would be doing most of the packing and unpacking so that takes a lot of the relaxation out of it..as it is I am planning on doing one load of laundry halfway thru.....

Yes. Tried it last visit and it just took too much time away from the fun stuff.

We did it last year with 2 small kids and it wasnt a problem at all. We mainly had our clothes in our suitcases, so it wasnt a big deal. I plan on a split stay next time. That is the only way we can do a deluxe resort.

split stays are they a pain

1) There definitely is more labor in packing and unpacking.
2) Some people can withstand more pain than others.
3) We HAVE done split stays in the past.
4) We we consider it more of a hassle than benefit.

I would not so a split stay for less that a week. I have split between Dolphin and BWV. Whichever is the nicer resort- do second! Split stays are a great way to be closer to different parts of the World to take advantage of transportation options. Have fun planning!

We've only tried a split stay once. It was 4 nights at Pop and 3 at WL. Because I like to settle in for the duration of the vacation, I will probably not try it again. If I ever did, I would want a minimum of 4 nights at each resort. I felt that three nights wasn't worth the work plus I felt our time at WL felt way too short. The first night is settling in and the third night is organizing and packing to leave the next day.

Aside though from the packing and unpacking part and my personal preference of at least a 4 night stay, the resort CMs make the move very easy. The night before we moved, I went to the luggage hold area at Pop and set up a time for them to pick up our luggage from the room. I was a little nervous about doing that, but it worked great. About 3 pm we went to WL to check in, went up to our room and within maybe fifteen minutes our luggage arrived!

Each family's experiences are unique with some liking it and others not so much. Sometimes, at least for me, I just need to try it to see for myself. Then you know for next time!

We did our first split stay last year, CSR to BC, and loved it. I wanted to take my parents to the BC but couldn't afford all 9 nights there. They day we moved, bell services picked up the luggage, I took the kids to US and my parents went to Epcot and met up with us at BC later. It was quick and easy. As for unpacking I guess everyone is different, but when I pack I pack in outfits so unpacking in the room I only unpacked the amount of outfits needed for each of us for our time there. The only other items are shower items and that is quick and easy. We are doing another split stay this year, ASSports to BC, the day we move is also a rest swim day for us, we have breakfast planned at Cape May Cafe, so we will get there, check in eat see if the room is ready, if not head to Epcot or relax by Stormalong Bay. I like to visit all the resorts but can't afford long stays in the deluxe resorts. Everyone will have their own opinions on this but it wasn't difficult for us at all. Good luck with whatever you decide.
