Split Stay

We are staying 2 nights at AKL then the rest of our stay GFV. How does that work? Do they transfer our luggage to the next resort for us? Also, what about any groceries we may have? Will that be put in the fridge for us?

Bell services can transfer luggage and cold items between resorts.
They have refrigerators for cold goods.
You can stop by or call bell services an advance to arrange a pickup time, and let them know you have cold goods.

We are so excited! We stay at the GFV on our last stay we wanted to rent some points and stay somewhere different.

We have done several split stays and bell services does a generally good job transferring groceries. With that said, we have gotten items at the second resort that were not ours. Make sure you keep your bags when the food is delivered, so you can re-pack it. We have a few of the reusable grocery bags in our Owner's Locker that we use for grocery transfers. Given that you are only at AKV for 2 nights, I personally may be tempted to make due with whatever dry goods I can pack for the first two days plus supplements from the gift shop and just have the large grocery order delivered to VGF. That would make the transfer day a little easier.

With regards to luggage, keep in mind that they do not guarantee delivery of the bags until after 3, and you may not get into your DVC villa until 4PM or later. If you need a change of clothes or swim gear, you will want to keep that in a carry-on or backpack. We often have laptops and iPads, so one of us will usually carry those in a locked carry-on to the next resort, check that bag at bell services, and then head to wherever we will spend the day.
