We are thinking about doing a split stay betwwen POP and WL. Can someone please explain how it works. Confused about getting packages our stay would be a 3night and 3night. Money wise is this worth it or do you have to purchase two packages. So Confused.

If you are doing 2 packages you would have to purchase two sets of tickets.

If you want to stay at 2 different resorts you might want to book the 1st one with the package to include the tickets you'd need. then book a "room only" for the 2nd one. You could also check to see if they have any AAA room only rates for the 2nd part of your stay. by doing this though, you cannot add on the dining plan to your room only.

Maybe someone else has some different options for you:wizard:

I had the same question not long ago but can't find the thread with great responses. It wasn't worth it for us this time. When I called the CM booked us a package for each time. This resulted in an extra $500 for two nights. I had expected around an extra $250 given it was going to be a different resort and using the info I had on the price off of the Disney travel website. If you do one of the resorts as room only then it isn't as bad.

Now that I have this knowledge (thanks to the DIS) I am planning one 3 night stay with dining and 6 day park hopper. The other resort will be room only.

Sorry I am not very clear. Maybe I can find my old thread. It is much cheaper to buy one 6 day park pass instead of two 3 day park passes.

You can do a "package" on your 1st hotel...tickets, DDP. Then do a room only on resort #2. Any DDP credits can be used up until midnight of checkout day, you tickets will still be good just use your 1st hotel keys to get in the park.If you do a 4/2 split...you only have to buy food for 2 days. Disney will transfer your luggage for you. Although I just take a cab with my luggage.

Money wise it is not worth it to buy two packages....you would only even need two packages if you want the DDP for both resorts.
Happy planning

I started a thread about this earlier today and what I found out is that it would be much more expensive than I'd anticipated unless the second resort is room only as pp's have stated. The way ticket pricing is structured now you pay about $80 or so per day for the first 3 days (this is just an approximate amt - it varies depending on whether you're getting park hopping, non-exp, waterparks, etc). Once you go over 3 days on a ticket, the ticket price only goes up by about $10 or so. For example, for DH, DD and me to get 6 day park hoppers only cost about $6 more than 5 day hoppers. And that's the grand total - not per person. It breaks down to a lot less than $80 or so a day. But if you split your stay between two resorts w/half you park days in each package, you'll go back to paying the full amount per day.
You can get around this one of two ways:
1) Get all your park days in a package at the first resort and book the second resort as a room only ressie - but this way means you can't book the dining plan at the second resort.
2) Get all your park days in the package at the first resort and book a package at the second w/one day base tickets that maybe could be saved & upgraded on your next trip - this way allows you to get the dining plan for the whole trip.
Hope that made sense.:) I think we've about decided to either just stick w/one resort for the whole week or maybe upgrade for just the last night.

Can you do a split say 2/5 (for example) and do the ROOM ONLY res the beginning and package at the 2nd hotel? Or would your tickets not be valid till the 2nd hotel? IE: can you start using your tickets on ANY day or does it have to be the day your 2nd hotel starts??

THANKS!

In order to get a package that would include tickets, so if you are not getting your tickets until your 2nd hotel then you wouldn't have tickets until you check in at your 2nd resort. You may want to do the package 1st with tickets for the amount of days you need, then room only.
