We are interesting in staying in a studio at BVW for four nights and then a 1 bedroom at BCV or somewhere else for the other four nights this Dec. How do we get our luggage from point A to point B without a car? I am not 100% certain that we will not rent a car but if we don't have to then I would prefer not to.

Disney will move your luggage for you. Just tell Bell Services that you're moving to another resort, and they'll bring it over.

Or, you can call a cab and take it over yourself.

We always take a taxi. Doesn't cost much then you can get checking in quicker at the new resort then your luggage is at the resort and you can just wait for your call tell you your room is ready.

Resort luggage transfers occur after 3:00 PM daily so plan your luggage needs accordingly. Take your carry-on items, meds etc with you when you check in. Bell Services will check your carry bag until your room is ready.

We are leaning towards doing this.

Because of this.

Thanks for the info.

We've had bell services transfer. We got dressed for the parks and threw swimsuits in a daybag and headed out. After a park lunch we headed over to the new resort. Luggage hadn't arrived yet - we were able to get into our room (but sometimes you can't). Changed and spent an hour or two in the pool, asked bell services on the way back up if our luggage had arrived, it had, and they brought it up.

I like cabs, but the reality with Disney is that there are several times during a transfer where you risk being fairly luggageless - if you cab over, you'll need to vacate the DVC room by eleven (and will likely go earlier if you want to do other stuff that day) and your room at the new resort isn't likely to be ready - so your luggage will get checked with Bell Services. Or you'll leave your luggage with bell services in the morning so you can get checked out, pick up your luggage in the afternoon, move it via cab, and then be able to get into your new room. Cabs just don't seem that superior to me for this purpose.

Will the resort transfer you or do you have to go to one of the parks or DTD to transfer to your new resort?

The resort won't take you. You'd have to use Disney transportation (transfer at theme park or DTD), or take a cab.

I've never done a split stay myself, but can you call ahead to check room availability at your next resort before your check-out of your first resort? :confused3

That way you know whether or not it would be worth the cab ride. To me leaving the luggage with Bell Services at the second resort and waiting for a room is little better than having WDW transfer it for you.

I always go to the new resort and check in, even before we check out of the old. You might get lucky and your room will be ready.

Warning about the TAXI service at WDW. Only use a Mears TAXI and make sure that it has a meter. There are a lot of free lance cab drivers and they set their own rates.

agree here.

If you're going to use bell services, don't wait to the last minute to call them to pick up your bags. Last year, I waited until we had all the bags packed before I called. I was thinking this was the way to do it. Unfortunately, all the bell staff were committed for the next two hours when I called.

Call in advance and set an appointment for when you want your bags picked up.

Experience.....

We had to do that one time. We let Bell Services move the bags for us. We were going from BWV to BCV so we just took what we needed for the next several hours and the laptop and got on the boat. We checked in and got to use SAB for the day until our room was ready! It was a last minute trip so we had to make several ressies. Bell services got everything where it needed to be! However, it was a lot of tipping! We don't like split stays and won't do them unless it's last minute.

Or you can bring your bags to bell services yourself. We did this last year. We just rolled them over, gave our information, next time we saw them was the WL.

Question---this will be my first trip transfering multiple times where I don't have a car. Remind me-do I need to be in the room when bell services come to get the luggage? Example-could I call and then leave for the day or do I need to call early enough so I have time to wait for them before I leave for the day?

I asked this same question when I called. Unfortunately, you need to be in the room when they pick up your bags.
