Split stay with package doesn't make sense?!

Hi,

I asked a few questions about splitting my stay a few days ago, but researching the logistics, it seems to not make sense $$-wise (besides the upgrade, which is obviously costing more). Background: we are currently set for POR for 10 days with 8 day MYW tickets in a package. If we split our stay to make it 3 days at AKL and 7 at POR, our TA says we need to also split up our tickets. Well, 2-day tickets + 6-day tickets for our family = a lot more (over $700) than 8-day tickets. AKL looks great, but it's not worth spending $700 more on something we already bought. Does that make sense, or is my reasoning faulty? Do people generally only split stays if they have room-only? (We really want a package because we want the dining plan, and we already paid deposits). Thanks!

Can you book the package and just get a 1 day base ticket and then buy seperate paper tickets for the other days?

Just purchase a 3 night package at AKL with a 10 day MYW tickets and make your POR ressie a room only ressie. Should have no problems. If your TA won't do this for you, then change TAs.

And if you plan to add the dining plan, you can still do it w/a split stay w/o having to purchase an "extra" base day tix...

We were having the same problem. We are planning a summer trip and decided to stay at CSR for 5 nights then move to BC for 5 more nights. We wanted to buy a 10 day park hopper to cover the entire stay AND I really wanted dining the entire stay!!! I KNEW there had to be a way that we didn't have to buy 2 park tickets since we were following all their rules, park ticket, on site, etc.......So I sent an e-mail stating the above info and received a call back from guest services. They said the computer system is set up this way and that it needs an override (CRO can't do this) to get what I needed. I guess it's not that often that people want a split stay, tickets and dining... Anyway, they set me up and I now have dining the entire stay without having to pay for 2 tickets. They told me that when I ran into this problem (on the 800#) I could have asked for guest services and they would accomidate me. Guest services # is 407-939-7657. It took some work, but I did get what I wanted and they were very pleasant to work with. Hope this helps!!!

Actually you should be doing a package at POR where your spending most of your time. Any chance of staying their first? You could then do 7day POR, 10day MYW + Dining. Then do room only at AKL for last 3 nights. If you plan your credits right, you could spread them into the 8th night since they do not expire until midnight of your checkout from POR.
