My DF and I are getting married at Disney next year. We are having a 12 night honeymoon so since we will be there so long we had considered a split stay. Now I'm thinking its a bad idea. We have to transport a lot of champagne, my 75 lb wedding dress, his tux, all of our other luggage plus wedding favors. What we are really worried about is the top layer of our wedding cake and my flowers. If we move from one resort to another, how on earth would we keep the cake and the flowers cool? Should we just ditch this whole split stay idea? TIA :)

Usually I encourage people staying that long to try two different resorts. But in your case, it sounds like even more of a hassle than it usually would be. I'd stay put until the last ounce of bubbly is gone.;) :drinking1

Thats a tough one. To many variables. Seems like it would be nice to have the event over a few days at one resort near the ceremony, then move off on your own for the rest of the time like a BW View or something.

I'm of the belief that once I get all my make up just right on the bathroom counter and my shoes piled in the right place, I don't want to start all over. Getting settled in once is enough for me, after all, I'm on vacation. It's like I'm losing a day of valuable vacation time, packing and unpacking.

This whole marriage thingy is overrated. Keep the booze. :thumbsup2

I'd still split the stay and leave the Champagne at home, Disney will charge you a corkage fee - even if you bring it in for your wedding - so it may not be worth it to bring onto property. Or.. we can take it off your hands! :cool1:

Well, Disney will move everything for you and keep perishable items refrigerated, but it would stink to be the CM that had to deal with all that additional wedding-related stuff, Plus I'd be a wreck that something would happen to my gown or something, so I'd probably just stay put and visit the other resorts. You can pool hop and stuff, except to SAB.

Whatever, congrats and have a great honeymoon.

Congratulations!

So are you planning on flying your cake and flowers home with you?

I assume that you will have family and our guests at this wedding who are not staying as long as you? Perhaps one of them could be entrusted to take these things home for you? Then you wouldn't have to give it a second thought.

Or, are you renting a vehicle of some sort?

Since for a honeymoon, you may spend more than the average amount of time in your room :hippie: I wouldn't totally ditch the thought of switching resorts.

I'm not a big fan of switching hotels. We do it a lot, because of the weekends, but I don't like it. This time, we're paying cash for the weekend at OKW.

I'd just stay put and enjoy yourself. Why buy more headaches?
