In our experience, it will work for at least 14 days after activation. Where you use it doesn't matter.

Yes it is activated for 14 days as @dansdad posted . If your stay is longer than that a CM at the location where you refill your mug can extend your activation period. As a reminder your mug refills will only work at the resorts and not at the parks.

You can use it any resort before it expires. We kept ours in a ziplock bag in our backpacks, then if we ate at a resort for lunch or dinner, we could easily grab a drink. We could also fill up when we got off the bus without having to return to our room first.

I spent my first night at Kidani, where I bought a refillable mug, then used it the rest of the week at the Beach Club. And one time I was staying at the Beach Club, but for some reason I went over to the Yacht Club, bought my refillable mug there, then used it during the week at the Beach Club.
