Hi

I was looking at a split stay in aug 2011, maybe POFQ/SSR for free dining, one week TS and one week CS.

Is this even possible? By the looks of things i have to book at least a 5 day ticket but as everyone knows the 14 day ticket is much cheaper. Does this mean to do my plan i'd need 2 7 day tickets?

Could i get an AP? would that be cheaper?

To get the dining plan for each hotel stay you would have to have tickets for each hotel, so separate tickets.

I have done a separate stay but did it so that one hotel was the majority of the stay and then a few days in another and when we went to the second hotel did not do the dining plan for the last few days.

With the 42% off at OKW & SSR you get a far better deal staying at either of these than a moderate resort.
A week at OKW or SSR will cost £819, a week at POR/FQ £826. But as you know you get the TS DDP at OKW/SSR but only CS at PO. Tickets are exactly the same price (£240) if you buy 5, 7 or 14 days. Split your stay you would have to buy double tickets making it very expensive.
I did OKW last August for 16 nights, there again this August for 21 nights & possibly next August for 17 nights, its a great deal for the deluxe DVC resorts.

I book the room, tickets and free Dining with Disney.co.uk then my own flights. Doing it this way I am flying business class with Delta for price of a package flying economy with Virgin.

I was thinking about doing a split stay for next year and having different resorts/dining plans but hit this problem with the tickets too.

The only time I have managed it before was in '08 when my hubby brought an annual pass to allow the room discount & dinning plan and then me and my son purchased our 14 night ultimate passes separately. We did a week at Pop Century & a week at Wilderness Lodge.

This is the only way I can think of again for next year, so would be interested if someone else has any further ideas. The dining plan is great but the tie of ADR's for the TS's can get in the way a bit.

If you have some flexibility and are not prone to becoming stressed by waiting, you could book the first part of your stay with Disney UK with the 14 day tickets and then wait and book the second part with Disney US with a one day base ticket. The base ticket, if not activated, does not expire, unlike the UK tickets do. You could also upgrade it by adding days and features to it in years to come. The reason I said you shouldn't be prone to worrying and fretting is that the US only offers its good discounts a maximum of 6 months out. If you price up like for like with Disney UK you are likely to get a better deal here. BUT if you can wait it out to book your room for the second part of your stay, when they release their discounts I found many of the deals (not all) to be better.

The reason I suggested doing the first part through Disney UK is that your tickets will be linked to this and you won't be able to use them until you check in. It makes sense to have this at the beginning of your trip.

Another thing to bear in mind is the fluctuating exchange rate so it may not be a bad idea to start putting the money aside for the US component of the booking while you are waiting.

Always a bit of a gamble, but this is one that I would be willing to take if I really wanted a split stay.
