Split Stay question

We're planning a summer 2022 trip (WDW veterans but total DL virgins). Thinking about doing a split stay to stay at DL hotel for 3 nights and then moving to a nearby "good neighbor" hotel for our other 4 nights. Trying to figure out the best way to buy park tickets - can you actually add a 5 day ticket onto a 3 night on-property stay?

You can definitely add a 5-day ticket to a 3 night stay.

May I suggest doing the off-site part first? Many off-site places will feel like a let-down after several nights on-site.

I would do the partner hotel first, but depending on which on-site you stay at, it may not be that much of an upgrade *looking at you, Paradise Pier, and your vaguely mid-80s airport hotel vibe*
