I' a Disney veteran but DVC newbie. If I book a split stay using DVC points, will Disney move our luggage for us, or do we have to physically carry out stuff to the next resort and go thrtough check in all over again? What do "move" days normally loon like on a split stay?

You just phone bell services on the day of the swap, you have to be in when they collect it, they will take it to the other resort and then once you have your room, you phone bell services again. So it basically costs you the tips to get it moved.

You will need to check-in again unfortunately, unless you can do it online.

They will even move refrigerated items for you - we usually label them as such, but let them know which items need to be refrigerated.

I even did this from the Dolphin! It was great! Only difference I'd suggest (from what we did) was to have a clear plan to not need a room (at either place) for the entire time between 11-4. Also, I wouldn't count on getting the room ready text. This was the first time we didn't get a room ready text; we've been doing OLCI since it became available.

It's very easy...bell services will usually tell give you an approximate time that your bags will get to the next resort--it's not necessarily immediate. So, if there's anything you might need for those few hours, you'll need to plan accordingly.

As PPs have said:
On move day:
Call Bell Services and have them come pick-up your luggage and refrigerated items. Be sure to inform them that you have items to keep cold.
Tell them where you are transferring too.
Check-in to your new resort.
Go do whatever you want that day.
After getting your room text and you are back in it (items are not at your new resort until 2 - 4 PM), call Bell Services to have the items delivered to your room.
NOTE: You must be in the room for the pick-up and delivery. Tips expected.
If you want to go straight to the parks and not go to the resort first to check-in and not get the text, yes you can do that.

Note: we usually drop our bags off with bell services in the morning of our move instead of having them come and pick them up. We also pick up our own bags from bell services at the new resort. I just wanted to let you know that you don't have to call them to pick up your bags from your room. And you don't have to have them delivered to your room. You have options! :thumbsup2 :)

We've usually been told that the bags won't be at the new resort until after 3pm.

We usually try to make switch days longer park days. We don't plan anything at the resorts for that day. We will sometimes do Disney Springs on our switch day. So we check out at 11 and head to Disney Springs and then hop on a bus to the new resort after we have had lunch and done a little shopping/wandering around.

Have a great trip!!
