Split stay or not? BR and Poly

Hi!
Planning a trip March 2025 for 8 nights. Our family consists of myself, DH, DD(16), DD(13) and DS (4).
We have stayed at WL (not DVC) our past two trips and LOVE it! We have since added another family member and have gone from a family of littles to teens and rambunctious 4 year old! I know that WL will be a great fit (although a bit more crowded than we would have preferred) my son will LOVE the pool, slides and kid zone area. We are considering possibly staying at the Poly for the last three nights of our trip for the following reasons:
- little extra space
-another shower!
- my older daughter loves Stitch- we most likely will go to an Ohana character breakfast and Ohana for dinner on our trip.
- the food at the Poly just appeals to us- never had Tonga toast but think we would love it!
- Ease of access to the monorail for the last days of our trip
The only hesitation that I have is that I am worried the Poly pool slide will be too intense for my son and that he will want to return to the pool at WL. We intend on having a pool day at the end of our trip so we would most likely be at the Poly for that day.
Thoughts? Is it worth the split stay for the food, space and ease of transportation? Will the Poly slide be too much for my little one?

You’ve a great trip planned
Re the 4 y/o and Poly volcano slide? Maybe. Don’t recall if there are height restrictions but you know your child’s adventure aptitude best. Should it not work out the water pad for the youngest children is still lots of fun.

As for the Tonga toast it’s best at Kona Cafe where the berries are offered; not available at Capt. Cook’s so just be forewarned.

Never stayed at WL so can’t compare in RT.

With 8 nights, I think I would do the split. We also love BRV. We just stayed in a newly refurbed villa in March and it was fantastic. I do like to split longer stays, though, just for a change of scenery and to enjoy other resorts. Poly is gorgeous. If your 4-year old doesn't like the slide, as PP mentioned, they have a great kids water area there and you could take him there instead.

First what type of tickets will you have since Disney does not use the term Split Stay? You would just have 2 reservations. You could always visit the Poly for the Character breakfast and 'Ohana dinner at any time during your stay.

Yes 2 showers and sinks are a plus with 5 family members in the same room. Does your son deal with dark situations? The WL slide is very quick while the Lava pool takes a little longer and is more intense for younger children.

Thanks, Dave! I would have two reservations, I just used split stay as a term. I think intensity coupled with the dark might be too intense for him. I have been trying to watch YouTube videos on the slide but I seem to see a view of the entrance and then the exit- so hard to judge the intensity! Thank you for your help!

Crescent Lake + monorail splits are my absolute fave. So convenient. I would do it for sure.

Re: your pool day, the really nice thing about the Poly is the pools are so close to each other, so if you find your kiddo can't handle the Lava pool slide, the Oasis pool is close by too.

We've only done a split trip twice. Once without incidence the second was a nightmare. We checked out of SSprings and were moving to the Beach Club. Our luggage never showed and they were unsure of where it could be. I understand this seldom happens but luck was not on our side. It took over a day and a half to be found. That was the end of split stays for us!
