Split Stay On/Offsite Fastpass+ question

We have our first family trip booked for May 2014 and will be staying 3 nights on site and 4 nights offsite. I had been reading on forums for awhile now that I could book my fast pass+ reservations for our entire ticket length, 7 days, regardless of the fact that we were staying offsite for a few nights. But when I try to reserve fastpass+ it only allows me to book for the disney resort nights.

Has anyone out there actually been successful booking fast pass+ for the entire length of a split stay? Is there something I'm not doing right? Would love any help or advice!

How many days out are you? I think at 60, you can only book for the on-site days. Then, at 59, you can book one additional day, then at 58 the next day. I think I have that right. We just returned from an on/off site stay and we're able to make FP + reservations for the number of days on our ticket.
