Split Stay/Magic Bands

We have an upcoming trip planned, 9 days/3 resorts. Our MDE account shows we can personalize our magic bands, but it lists them for all three reservations. We can just personalize one set and decline the other two sets - can't we? There's no reason to get three sets is there?

You only need 1 set. Unless you want to collect all the colors, just decline the other 2 sets, the 1 band will work at all locations.

Yep, you can decline the others. We decline them all the time because we have bands in all the colors in both the old style and the new and there is no reason to have so many bands.

The battery-powered active RFID tag in a MagicBand is only supposed to last about 2 years. That active tag fuels some of the interactive aspects within the parks, like capturing your photo on Mine Train or posting your name at the exit to Small World. Just two examples that immediately come to mind.

Anyway, if you don't want to lose access to some of those features, it's best to rotate to new MagicBands every couple of years. When the battery powering that active chip dies, certain features will no longer work. (Passive features like opening hotel room doors, park admission, FP redemption should continue indefinitely, barring any physical damage to the band.)

We are actually one of the few families that don't care about the photos and would actually prefer out name not appear. I have an AP and in the years we have received free memory maker and 2 or 3 trips a year, we have used it once. We don't charge to our MBs, we really just use them to get into the park, FP access and get into our rooms.
