Split Stay - Luggage?

Hello!

We've recently added two days to our upcoming vacation, but in order to do so, we had to switch from Pop to Animal Kingdom Lodge (not that I'm complaining or anything ). Is there a luggage service that will bring our bags to AKL, or are we responsible for transferring our bags ourselves?

Yes - bell services will deliver your luggage to the resort. It may take them a little while - a few hours. When you request your luggage at AKL make sure to tell them it is a transfer from Pop, that will help in locating your luggage.

So I would let the Bell Services desk at Pop know that my luggage needs to be transferred to AKL, right? That would make life SO much easier!!!

Yes and then when you arrive at AKL inform their bell services that your luggage is being transferred from POP. Pretty nice service! It lets you enjoy your day without dragging your luggage all around.

What are you planning on doing the day of your transfer. If its a resort day at AKL, I suggest you bring your luggage with you in a taxicab.

We did one night at POP this summer with the remainder of our trip at YC. The morning of our transfer we had b-fast at everything POP, let the kids swim a bit. I gathered our stuff, and went by myself to check us in at YC.

As luck would have it, our room was ready, bell services brought my luggage right up, I unpacked, called DH on the cell and he brought the kids over in a cab with their swim suits and cover ups on.

It was seamless.

We have breakfast reservations at CRT on the day of our move, which was originally scheduled to be our checkout day. Not sure what we will do now...we're definitely keeping the CRT reservation, since DS8 wanted to eat with the princesses (he's quite the little flirt), but will probably hop to another park or go back to AKL afterwards...

We just did this on Saturday. We called bell services at the Pop and someone came in about 2 minutes. They gave us a tag (and we gave them a tip) and then the took the bags. We took the bus to the CR, had breakfast at Chef Mickey's and by the time we finished we were able to check into our new room at the CR, the bags arrived and we were on our way to the parks by noon. It couldn't have been easier.

We have done it a few times and its as pp's said - great.

Just be aware that it can take a while for the transfer so plan accordingly and don't plan to have your bags until official check in time.

If you are off at the parks all day and don't need your bags until 3/4ish you are set. If you want to take a mid day break and swim at AKL you may want to make other arrangements just in case.
