Split Stay Logistical Question

I am ROFR on first contract and already thinking about our first trip as DVC members! I was thinking about doing a split stay when we do go but was curious how that would work logistically. Would we have to get a taxi to the second resort with our bags or does Disney have a service that will move bags from one resort to another resort? Thanks in advance.

Bell services can move your luggage to the next resort. They can even move your food. The luggage does not usually get to the new resort until after 3. You will need to call bell services to bring the luggage etc. to the room once you have access to the room.

We usually plan to go to a park after our bags are picked up by bell services and then use WDW buses to get to the next resort. We have taken a cab once. There is no resort to resort shuttle.

Just remember when you do a split stay you may be "homeless" for 5 or 6 hours. We just got back from a three way split (BLT/BWV/AK Kadani) and was very fortunate that our rooms were ready early in each resort.

But it is easy as everyone has said.

Logistically split stays really are not a big deal. My last couple trips we have done them more out of practicality than desire to switch resorts (people coming and going, so switching for room size). I have to say, it is a big pain. You have to pack, and unpack, and then check in again. It eats up more time than I anticipated, and we never felt really settled, because we knew we had to move. The last time there was an issue with our magic bands too. So it was an hour and a half with the front desk in the morning, and then when we went to our new room later that afternoon we couldn't get into the room because the key wouldn't work. It was at OKW, so we had to drive BACK to the hospitality house and address the problem again. I would personally rather not deal with it, if I can avoid it.

We have a split stay going from SSR to The Dolphin. Will Bell Services still move our luggage even though we aren't going to another DVC resort?

We always bring a day bag (backpack) with swim suits and a change of clothes on move day. Sometimes we don't see our luggage until 7 or 8pm. A lot of times we change from All Stars to DVC Resorts. Yes, They will move your bags from there.

I don't think they move bags to the dolphin- Also the dolphin does not have DME if you need to get back to the airport.

I don't know if it is due to improvements or what, but with our trip in Dec, we had tons of magic band room issues. With our May trip, I made the point of stopping by the front desk and say "we are officially checking out" before we moved to the next resort. We used the same MB for all three resorts and had zero problems with getting into room.
