Hiya

So today the day I book the poly, but I am thinking of taking up the suggestions of a split stay, but where else to stay?

I have looked at the wdw web site about the resorts, and its looking like wilderness lodge concierge, 14th floor contemporary concierge or well thats it really lol

I would really like some help before work

thanx anna

hi, we staying in an Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah room which has views over to the animals which my dd has her heart set on.

I was considering a split stay and was given some really good advice to choose to hotels in different areas so as you are staying at the Poly I would go for the AKL, I haven't stayed here yet though really looking forward to it.

we are not doing the split stay as we are doing castle club at the DLH Paris next year.

AKL is a lovely hotel, but it's too far away from the action. As you've chosen an MK resort already, I would be inclined to choose an Epcot resort (which would give you easy access to both Epcot and MGM).

Just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons; have you taken time to consider what the concierge offerings are and how much use you will make of them for the additional cost? We stayed at AKL Concierge, but it was a virtually free upgrade and whilst it was a 'nice to have', I wouldn't have wanted to pay too much for it.

I'd have stuck with the Upper Class! :teeth:

turns out we stil will be lol, chris wont downgrade now, though he will pay for the concierge as well,

hes very hard to understand but when his minds set its set lol unlike me that flits around

We would get alot from concirge even befor we go with them doing the adrs, I have had to take holidays off work before to organise adrs, as my working pattern is all over.

I would suggest you consider The Yacht or Beach Club. It's a 3 to 5 minute walk to Epcot and they have concierge rooms. Plus, if you like Stormalong Bay (I don't) and The Boardwalk you have them too.

Agreed, this is (IMO) the nicest area of Disney. Have stayed at Yacht Club and Swan, but have looked around a lot of other Disney hotels. The Epcot area is just beautiful and very handy. Yacht/Beach Club also share a really lovely pool (Stormalong Bay).

Agree with UKDEB about concierge. Sometimes they are useful, other times you don't get much use out of them. Often depends upon how much time you spend in the hotel: if you spend all of your time AND meals outside of the hotel, then you probably wont get much use out of it.

Thought you were staying at the Dolphin?

No, that was amendment number 14 (or was it 15?). Do try to keep up! ;)

Sorry, Anna - couldn't resist. ;)

I know, sorry, been away for the weekend (a lot has changed since then! ;) )... am working my way through the posts from the top (most recent) down... have just found the one about the poly/contemporary/GF (which explains the fate of the Dolphin...). More twists and turns than Eastenders here.

Must admit I can't see the attraction in concierge, especially looking at what you get for the extra $100+ per night :confused3

I would also agree that an Epcot reosrt would be a good choice to complement the MK resort.

Anna, I wouldn't split your stay with the Contemporary as, personally, I would want to move to a different area of WDW. We enjoyed the AKL and their concierge service, but I didn't feel for the AKL rooms or the location of the lodge.

Personally, I would consider the Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach Club. Both have concierge rooms available.

Obviously we all have our own ideas on the way to get the most from our trips, but the attraction of concierge for many is quite the simply the higher standard of service. In my opinion it's impossible to put a price on some of the wonderful surprises the concierge CMs organise, and the incredible service they offer guests. The fact that they can often get you some of those hard-to-secure reservations such as Wishes/Illuminations cruises - all at short notice - is another nice perk. What's more having the comfort of knowing the exact location of your room before arriving (which is the case at the Polynesian concierge) is another benefit. A lot of the listed benefits you can "see" are just extras. It's the higher standard of service which really makes concierge worthwhile.

The Beach Club
if I was you

I change my mind all the time lol! but chris says this is the absolute last time lol

I am definatly doing the polynesian the first week, and I am seriously considering the animal kingdom wilderness lodge or the contemporary, I really dont like the look of the rooms at grand floridian or yacht

I am gonna go call now, Will let you know what I do lol
