I know many of you do split stays, but how do you do check-out/in and luggage transfers without losing a day at the parks? Any suggestions?

Thanks!:goodvibes

We've done split stays before and left our luggage and things with the bell service at the resort we were currently staying. Then we came back for it later in the afternoon and went to the new resort with it to check in. They also have a service that will take your luggage for you to the next resort - as I remember they take they in the later afternoon.

Have Bell services come and pick up your packed luggage at your first resort before you head out to the parks for the day. Tell them you are transferring to your next resort and they will take care of that. When you are done at the parks go to your new resort and check in. If a room is ready then bell service can bring up your luggage.

I think that the next time we have a split stay I may do the online check in for the second resort but that will also depend on the resort and time of day we expect to get over there.

When we have done split stays we have done it different ways. We have called bell services in the A.M. and had them pick it up and transfer it the next hotel. Then when I get around to checking in I check on my bags. I believe they say it will be there by 3 or 4, but I have found it to usually be there earlier. I have also gotten up early enough that we take our luggage with us and checked in and just brought our luggage over to bell services if our room is not ready.

We did a split stay last Dec. The first half was at OKW and the second half at BCV. We had bell services pick up our luggage and groceries and transfer them to BCV. Then, my husband went over to BCV with our older DD and checked us in. Once he was done checking in, he met me at Epcot and we enjoyed the day there.
If you are giving your luggage to bell services to transfer, I would take out anything that you will need during the day. Not sure if it was just that the day we were doing our switch, but they didn't have our luggage ready until after 7 that night.
Also, in case you aren't aware, bell services can't leave your luggage in your room. You have to be there to have it brought up to your room.

We just completed our vacation and did a split stay between BWV, BLT, and VWL.

We did have a rental car for a few days (the days of the switch) which made it easier to go from one to the next. When I was going from BWV to BLT, I thought I would try bell services and brought down my luggage for them to transfer. Left it with them and headed off to BLT to check in around 7:30 am. We didn't think our room would be ready, but it was. But we headed off to MK for the morning.

When we moved from BLT to VWL, we took our luggage (since there had been a problem with the BWV to BLT transfer) and checked in around 8:00 am. Left luggage with bell services since room was not ready and just headed out to AK and DTD. They sent us a text around 1:30 pm that the room was done.

The only piece I can say--if you use bell services to transfer your luggage, it won't arrive to the new resort until sometime in the late afternoon (3:00 ish). If you think there is a chance you will head back to the resort to swim while you wait for your room to be ready, be sure to keep a separate bag with swim stuff that you don't have them transfer (take it with you when you check in to the new resort and leave it with bell services there--at least if you come back early, you will have access to it).

last week we transferred from BLT to BWV. BLT bell services picked up our luggage around 10:30am, and told us it would get to BWV anytime between 1 and 4pm. We had 11:00 breakfast at the Poly, rode the monorail to the MK, hopped on the BW bus, checked into BW at 12:30pm, room was ready. Called bell services at 1pm and our luggage had just arrived and they brought it right up to us. We were walking over to Epcot by 1:30pm. Just the luck of the draw that day, but it worked out great for us.

Thanks for all the info. Sounds like it works out OK however it gets done. I was just worried about sending the luggage via bell services and not getting to the next resort until the end of a long day, then still having to check in and unpack, but I guess there are ways to avoid that. And they even transfer the groceries and hold them, as well--cool.

I always know the DIS folk will have the answers.:thumbsup2
