We are taking a quick three night visit to Disney in August. I am not sure I am going to like the weather but our time frame was limited and the points were expiring so we booked.

We have 1 night in BCV and the next 2 in Kidani Standard View. We have never stayed in AKL as DVC members so this will be a first.

Because we are planning our big family trip to Disney this December we are doing this visit quickie and as cheap as possible. That means we will most likely do without the meal plan or even eating out. We always take non perishable breakfast foods but we have never tried taking foods to prepare meals.

We drive to Disney (12 hours) on Thursday and hit BCV. We will cook in our villa that night. When we check out of BCV on Friday AM how do we keep the perishables cold? Check in time at AKL could be as late as 4 PM. We will bring food in a cooler of ice but I hate to leave that in the car while to do MK until possibly 2 AM on Friday/Saturday.

What kind of experiences do you all have with split stays? :confused3

You can check in as early as 6 or 7 am. The 4pm time is room ready time. Bell Services at the resort can store your items for you. They can also store items that need refrigeration.

It's such a short vacation, I would go off site to a local fast food restaurant for the first night and buy food for the AKV leg. Bell Services will store your food or you could get a larger cooler and keep the food in that car but why put up with the hassle?

We have had bell services store refrigerated items for us when doing a split stay and they have always been great about it.

Thanks for the ideas!

We have used bell services for regular luggage but never for perishable foods. It is nice to know they can handle that. Do you just give them your cooler or do you unpack into bags that they put in a frig?

We are considering eating out but we just have not decided on the real budget for this quickie trip. Personally, I want my normal meals at all the nice places IN Disney! :rotfl2:

I always bag items that need refrigeration separately and let bell services know which ones to keep cold. I have never had any problems and the items are always cold when they bring them up to the villa.

You can do the process of checking in whenever you want, but the official checkin time STARTS at 4pm. Your room might not be ready then, just FYI.
