I know with split stays it does not count towards your 60+ days with the second stay. I read somewhere that you can make your stay longer for the first stay so you can use the 60+ Dining for both.

Can this be done? Or if we switched it back to the regular stay would the reservations all cancel? Its just annoying that we are paying for a Disney hotel on both hotels and the system doesn’t recognize our 9 night stay.

Or can I call up and get some restaurants booked via the phone?

Yes you can. Dining reservations once booked are not tied to a room reservation, and if a room reservation is changed/cancelled the dining reservations made will still be in place. In addition in your scenario listed above it will not be any additional cost since you only pay one nights cost when booking a room reservation. Since you are doing a split stay you would be doing that anyway.

In addition many Disney Springs restaurants can be booked directly or through OpenTable, which is not affected by the Disney dining reservation system.

I am doing something similar for an upcoming trip and the biggest thing I've read is to make sure you do not modify anything at until you are at least at the 60 day mark of your second leg. I think that is how the system flags it for cancellation - if you no longer have a reservation that would be allowing you to book dining for the dates at the end of your trip. I hope that makes sense! Personally I am just going to wait until I'm 60 days out from ALL of my dining reservations before modifying anything.

Ok thank you. I was going to wait until I was well within the window as well. I wish they’d just see that you had consecutive reservations and let you do it regardless.

Agreed! Especially when you want hard to get dinner reservations on day 2 of your second resort!!!

Yep! In fact to maximize your chances not only can you extend you first resort booking to cover the days of the second reservation you could also extend the beginning of the booking of the first stay to push you 60+10 to even earlier in your trip and then modify the reservation after the 60 day mark to your preferred dates. Disney has no penalties for changes/cancellation for room reservations until 5 days out and even packages can be changed up to 45 days out without penalty (if my memory serves me correctly).

Yes you could just do another dummy booking. For a room only you’ll need to pay first night’s deposit and then you can cancel no penalty.

Like mjdis17 stated just do a separate booking. To maximize it have it start 10 days before your check-in of the first part of the split stay and end the check-out day of the second stay. Make all your reservations and then cancel the dummy booking.

I'm not saying I've done this in the past but I had no problem getting Space220, CandleLight Processional and California Grill bookings between Christmas and New Years recently. And I possibly made $150 in the process
