Split stay day and what to do

I’ve never done a split stay (first at Pop for five nights and then Yacht Club for six nights) and trying to figure out the best course of action. Should I plan a park day on our transfer day ( we’d go to Hollywood Studios) or should we have a pool day at Stormalong Bay? On the one hand, I feel like a pool day would be relaxing because we wouldn’t have to rush to get packed up and out the door for rope drop. But then again, if it rains or the room isn’t ready until late in the day, I’d hate to be stranded without a room. Therefore, a park day seems to make more sense. Can those that have done split stays weigh in with their experience?

We just did this about two weeks ago…moved from GF to Yacht. We did do a park ticket at Epcot bc of the proximity and later opening. Since EP doesn’t open until 11, we slept in a bit and packed up. We had our bags to bell services by 9:30 and headed to rope drop Epcot. Our room was ready via text at 12:15. We had lunch and were ready for our mid day break at 2ish. We headed to yacht and checked in. We knew our bags would be behind so had packed our suits in our backpacks for the day. We changed and swam for a few hours. We got our bags at 5ish. It’s up to your preference but it worked for us!

On one of our split stays, we mentioned to the front desk CMs at WL checkout that we were moving over to the Poly for the rest of our trip, and the CM got on the phone and came back to tell us that our room was ready and waiting for us at the Poly! So we just headed over right away. The next time we did a split stay, no pixie dust at checkout, so we headed over to the Poly (again!) see if our room was ready, and it was! Our backup plan was to head to the outlets for some shopping(we had a rental car and would take our luggage with us), but we definitely lucked out both times.

We are doing a split stay CBR/WL. We planned on dropping our bags off at bell services and going to MK. Probably will go to our second resort midday if our room is ready then back to MK at night.

We have a BC/Poly split stay coming up in three weeks. On our transfer day, we are are planning on dropping off our bags with bell services and heading to DHS. Whenever we are done there, we’ll head back to BC and pick up our bags (we prefer to move them ourselves because of problems we’ve had in the past) and then Uber to the Poly. We’ll eat lunch at Capt. Cook’s and if our room isn’t ready, we’ll head to the MK. If it is ready, we’ll unpack and maybe swim, and then head to MK.

sept/Oct 2021 BWI CL to CR Tower.

Dropping off bags, doing CL breakfast.
Going to HS in the AM, maybe CR for a break, depending on room availability, but we have no dinner plans as of now, so we might end the day in MK or Epcot, depending how the earlier park days go...
This would be our second HS day, in case we do not get ROTR boarding passes on HS day one, so it is a flexible day. We might do a EP fireworks cruise this night or the night before. Our booking window for-the first part is in 11 days approx.

Also, we are checking in to CR the day before the 50th so we expect it to be a zoo! We are planning a early night, unless we are doing the fireworks cruise. We are doing MK bright and early on the first.

I would plan on doing Epcot that day. Don't have to get up at the crack of dawn, and when your room is ready, you can walk over and get all settled, if you want.

It’s a Sunday. I know better than to do Epcot on the weekend during Food & Wine. 😂

Does anyone know is it possible to request my MDE pick me up at a different resort than what I am checking out of? Staying my last night at Pop, but going to bein Epcot all day. Would be so much easier if I can drop our bags at one of the Epcot resorts and snag the MDE there instead of trying to get back to Pop in time. Anyone have experience with this kind of request?

Unfortunately, you’ll have to be picked up at the resort you checked out of. I called & asked several Disney resources & was told this. I was staying longer than my family members & it would have been much more convenient to have them picked up at my new hotel. But unless I had added them to my reservation it wasn’t allowed. And I didn’t add them to the reservation because I would have had to pay for the third adult in the room for the two extra nights i was staying!

When we did our split stay we had booked a pool patio at the GF . We were moving from Yacht Club. Turns out it was going to rain the entire day . We switched gears and went to the outlet mall . Our room was not ready until after 4 at GF 😡. We really didn’t want to leave the Yacht Club ! Our room was in the perfect location - first floor with our patio right off the quiet pool ( Admiral I think ) . It was perfect ! The kids could walk right out and jump in for a bit when we got back from the parks. It was clean and quiet. Convenient to get towels when you run out too ! There is a hot tub and laundry also . Room 1082 . So maybe wait and see what you are in the mood to do a few days before . But seriously ask for our room . It was perfect!

I like the Idea of going to Epcot on moving day, since it opens later, you don’t have to rush to the park in the morning, and you can easily walk to your room
when it’s ready if you’re wanting a break, then quickly get back to the park after.

We did a split in January moving from AoA to akl and did Animal Kingdom rope drop. We had a rental, so drove to the park ourselves, but had to pack up our room quickly at 7 am and try to deal with an upset child. We didn’t tell her about the second hotel and what 6 yo wants to leave a beautiful little mermaid room? Anyway, we had a fun day, but by 2 we were ready to go to the hotel, but didn’t get a text for the room, even though I requested a 1pm check in. We decided to do a slow stroll to the front of the park, then just made the decision to head over and see if it was available. Fortunately it was ready, so we went up and relaxed until our Sanaa adr.

in my opinion, I think our family would have done better had we slept in, taken our time to pack, then made our way over to see if the room was ready when we had requested rather than deal with the early rope drop, but with the later rd at Epcot, it’d make more sense.

Epcot won’t work. I have a hard and fast rule of not doing Epcot on the weekends during Food & Wine and we are switching resorts on a Sunday. Otherwise, it would be ideal.

Sorry missed your earlier message stating that. For a Sunday, I’d probably just relax and take it easy then. Sleep in, pack up just in time to head out of current resort, grab a leisurely lunch, then head to new location and see if your room is ready, if not go enjoy the pool.
