Split Stay - Cold Stuff

We have a split stay coming up. If we have cold grocery items, does anyone know if they'll keep it cold before/after the transfer? I feel like I remember reading they have fridges for when they accept grocery delivery, etc. We usually keep yogurts, fruit, cheese, etc. on hand in our room for breakfasts/snacks. If needed, we can do a second delivery for perishable items, but it'd be easier to just do one at the start of our trip. I guess another option is we could bring a cooler and pack it with ice, but we're leaving our first resort very early for EMM so not looking to add a task of getting ice! I appreciate any advice! Thanks!

We are worried about this, too. It will be August and i just don’t trust that it will stay cold. I am mainly concerned about the yogurt and cheese. I think we will just do two prime orders.

We have done a split and had them transfer cold items and had no problems with them keeping our food refrigerated. We did have an issue with the transfer - they had moved our luggage over, but had left our groceries at the first resort. However, they figured out what had happened pretty quickly and got them to us within an hour. Before they figured out the items were still at the first resort, they told us they would give us a gift card to cover any lost or ruined groceries if they had not been able to find our stuff. It ended up being fine and I’d have no problem doing it again.

Awesome - thank you!!

Your food that requires cool/cold storage will be stored in a refrigerator or freezer depending on how you label it before transfer. But during the transport, it probably won't be refrigerated.

I would have 2 orders - a friend with me last year had her cold stuff get lost doing a split stay and finally "found" 3 days later.
Yikes! Did they provide any replacement option as suggested in a previous comment? Our second stay is only three nights and our checkout day we have a character breakfast, so we really just need two days worth. I guess we could always buy a small thing of milk, etc. in the marketplace.

It should work fine. However, a few reports I've read said cold food was left out since the fridge space was packed. If its non-perishable items I'd say no worries, but I would be cautious of anything that could spoil. Maybe bet a cheap cooler and pack with ice yourself, or do as @Lacoccinelle suggested and make two orders.

When we did a split stay, we had two bags that we specifically marked fridge/keep cold. I think they were paper bags so we wrote on the bags themselves and also told Bell Services. They were transferred fine and everything was still cold in them when we got them at the second resort.

We have had cold things transferred several times. We've had no trouble. I've put a stick of butter in a plastic bag and when I got it at new resort , it was still perfectly formed. Not like it got soft and squished and then chilled. I do bring a cheap soft sided cooler as a little extra insurance.

She got a $25 gift card and 4 FP. Her food did set out the whole time and despite being in a cooler, it was ruined.

I see this is an old post but wanted to share my experience. We called bell services for a luggage transfer from SSR to BWV and they were upfront telling us they will not take refrigerated groceries- it is too much to keep track of during the storage and transit process. They did assist with non perishable groceries for us.
Hope this is helpful!

Do you know if they will store it until your room is ready, as long as you take it to bell services yourself?

This is a very new policy, and to my knowledge Disney hasn't issued an official statement, so stay tuned for additional reports to come in. However, I believe that as long as you bring it yourself they will store it. They simply don't want to be responsible for keeping it at proper temperatures while it's in transit from one resort to another.

An extremely new policy. I had perishables transported with my luggage when I had my GF to YC split stay at the end of May. Not a lot of things, just some chip dip and a pint of milk for cereal cups. Everything was fine at YC too. I guess I can understand why they don’t want to do it anymore though.

Who knows, could be who you reach at bell services too. The folks at boardwalk told us they are the last stop for luggage transfers from SSR so who knows- there is probably a lot that goes into the routes and corresponding transit times. This was yesterday for us, July 26.
