Split stay between DVC and POR?

Has anybody had any experience with splitting a stay between a normal resort and a dvc resort? We're staying an extra night before our dvc rez at POR and then staying at AKV. We are renting the dvc points from a friend and I know that they had to make our outbound ME arrangements and would have had to do so for our arrival too, if we hadn't been arriving a day early. I'm somewhat worried that the transfer of our luggage from POR to AKV might not go as smoothly as it would if we were going from one normal resort to another. Any ideas?

I think it'll be ok -- give your stuff to Bell Services -- head off to a park or take a taxi to check in early to AKV -- then head to a park, and return later, get your villa and Bell Services will bring out your stuff.

I'm somewhat homesick reading you're post. Before joining DVC POR was our favorite resort. Looking at the DVC point charts it makes no sense to stay at any of the Disney Collection resorts. I suppose at some point in the future we'll stay at POR. Perhaps a boat ride up the Sassagula River to visit the River Roost and Boatwrights will satisfy our missing POR.

Your luggage transfer will be fine. DVC's are WDW resorts as well, and they handle luggage transfers constantly. Its just a normal thing for all of the WDW resorts to do this since so many people do split stays.

We stay at mods and values all the time for a weekend night or two before heading to our DVC accomodations. We love those resorts and its fun to stay at them. POR is a favorite of ours, wonderful pools, theming, rooms are nice, the boat to DTD is great and the grounds are lush and beautiful.
