split stay between a value to the Poly???

I thought my recent trip to the Poly would be a one time experience, but now my DD and I are hooked and can't wait to go back. I am hoping to get back next year, but unless they have another 4/3 deal, I would only be able to stay at the Poly if I split it with a value resort. Initially, I figured staying at a value for the first few nights and then moving onto the Poly for the last five nights. I really liked the DDP, but doing a split stay will cost extra money to be on the dining plan. So then I thought, maybe I could stay at the Poly first, get a seven day ticket with DDP, and enjoy the DDp for the first five days, then get a room only ressie for the value resort at the end of the stay. My DD likes all the really expensive character meals so it would be cost efficient for me to get the DDP. BUT...I can't see going from the Poly to a value...would I be in major shock? We've only stayed at two resorts: the WL courtyard view, and Poly GVCL. Anyone have any benefits to doing Poly first and moving to value at the end? My one thought is, it might be easier to leave WDW this time if we're staying at a value and not the Poly...both DD and I dragged our feet to the GCH to catch the ME and did NOT want to leave!

We did a split stay last Sept with 4 nights at the Poly and 3 at the Dolphin and it was great. You really had two seperate perspectives of Disney World and it seemed like 2 mini vacations. We originally wanted to do it to save money, but at the end, it was the best choice due to amenities and a change of scenery. I would definately do a split stay again (we did the Swan and the down disney hilton in 03). It worked out really well.. now at the Dolphin, it was great to be able to just walk to Epcot and we had much better food choices. At the values, you will miss the easy access of the monorail, but the cost savings means the money can go elsewhere. It is really up to you whether to stay there first or last. It might be a good teaser to stay there the second, but it was really great to check into the Poly on the first day and be so immersed versus later in the vacation when you probably have done most things once....

We booked free dining at CSR Sept 15th-22th and this will be our first moderate resort after doing much research and what we are looking for.
