We are staying the 1st 3 nights of our trip at Ft. Wilderness Cabins and the last 5 nights of our trip will be at Beach Club. We have days left on our passes from last year, so we had to but only a one day base ticket for each of us. When I got off of the phone yesterday I thought the price seemed a little high so I compared it to prices at Disney.com and it was a difference of $340.00.

I called Disney this morning and the CM told me that since we are staying at 2 different hotels, it is considered 2 different packages and I had to buy one day passes for each hotel

So now we have to decide if we should just keep our package like it is or choose just one hotel. :sad2: If we keep our split stay that $340 sure doesn't make free dining as good of a deal. ::sad1:

I figured there would be other people staying at two hotels and wouldn't know about having to buy an extra set of tickets. I just don't think it is right for Disney to do this since we are going straight from one hotel to another. What is every one else's thought on this?

It is just the rules. Each time you switch resorts it is considered a new stay so another set of tickets. If you can just stay on one resort and extend your stay.

We tried to combine with our DVC stay and we just ended up not taking FDP and going with the DDE and eating less! Not having to pay for a room and our airfare was on award tickets. Other than MNSSHP and meals we are not spending money this time.

Oh except for the 14K I used to buy the DVC...

If I were you, I would not split my stay if at all possible. If you absolutely must do a split, you know that you can use the credits for other parks/passes right? You might want to consider "pooling" all the park tickets and purchase annual passes or something. We used ours to renew our ap's and get new water park passes.

Last resort, just keep the tickets for an upcoming trip. If it were me, I would try not to split. Just my .02

Its a pain I know! Now that you can book for 14 nights I wont be splitting the stay this year unless we fly out before free dining starts, then I will be looking for an offsite hotel or an AP rate at the Beach Club or POR for the first few nights. Cant afford to pay rack rate on Beach club for 14 nights, otherwise I would pick that one. Majority of our stay is likely to be at ASMU 2 rooms.

I don't agree with Disney's policy either, but consider those who PAY for the dining plan and want to split their stay, they have to buy two passes also.

Yep...that's the way packages work. This is true whether it's the free dining or if you're paying for dining. Lots of folks just do a package on only one of the resorts and do a room only for the second resort. You could do this and save on paying for extra tickets, but then you don't get the free dining. If I were you, I'd buy one package and stay put....but then again, I'm not a big fan on moving mid trip either. I like to unpack and settle in.

If you really want to do a split stay just book room only for the first three nights use you exsisting tickets. The last 5 nights do a package with free dining. If not just pick a resort and stay there the entire time.

I wanted to do a split stay with Pop and a Mod but my DH said he does not consider it vacation if he has to take time out to pack and move to another resort. After thinking about it I agree! He told me to just pick on resort and I decided on Pop for our 9 day stay ;)

That's us! I wanted to try WL, but didn't want to pay the cost of 9 nights there, so we're at ASMo for 5 nights and then at WL for 4 more.

We're planning to save the one day tickets from the second pkg to upgrade for a future trip! It's a good enough reason to go back!
