Split stay baggage?

I am sure this has a common sense answer but . . . We have done a split stay before but had our car. We are doing a split stay this time and flying. How do we handle having the baggage switched to the new resort? Do we just take it to Bell Service and tell them?

Yep, that's exactly what you do. Either take it to bell services yourself, or call and they will pick it up from your room. If you call, you must be in your room when they take possession. They'll note the resort the luggage is being delivered to and will give you a receipt. Transfers are usually done only once per day. Pick-ups are at 1 o'clock. You can expect your luggage after 3 PM.

Thanks! Sounds great to me because we like to be out and going early. We will just drop it off early at bell service, head to the park, and hopefully when we come back for the mid-day nap our things will be there.

We did this on one of our vacations and we just had our luggage picked up in the morning before we left out and when we returned to the second hotel later that day, our bags were at bell services and we just had them delivered to the room!! Easy as pie (minus the tipping part :):flower3:

Keep in mind that they will not deliver them to your room until you are in your room. Once you get your room assignment you call bell service and they will bring them up. BTW--whether you take them to bell service yourself or they pick them up, they will still be expecting a tip for handling your bags....and of course a tip for the delivery of your bags too.

Does anyone know how a split stay affects dining if you are on the dining plan? If you are 4 days at one resort to you have to be super careful to use up those four days, or are the dining days tied to your park pass instead of the resort?
Thanks!

Dining Plan credits are tied to your resort stay. The credits will be on your room key. The credits expire at midnight of the day you check out.

For example, if you are checking into the BWV on 6/1 for a 4 night stay and then moving to AKV for 5 nights, the BWV credits expire at midnight on 6/5. The AKV credits (you would get 5 TS, 5 CS & 5 snacks per person per night for the regular DP), would be valid from check in (6/5) to midnight of the day you check out, 6/10. For this example, the BWV dining plan credits will be on the BWV room key and the AKV dining credits will be on the AKV key. You can't move them from one resort's room key to the another resort's room key. Think of it as two separate stays for the purpose of the dining plan.

You will have a bit of overlap, since the AKV credits will be valid as soon as you check in. But credits are based on the number of nights (not days) you stay, so you don't get double credits for a split stay.

Be sure to pack things, like swimsuits and things, that you may need for the mid day.

When we went from BWV to BLT last year, we were told that our luggage would not be there until after 3:00 pm. I never took out things because we didn't anticipate our room being ready at BLT earlier than that---well, it was--when we arrived at 8:00 am.

So, we ended up leaving the park earlier than expected, only to get back to the room at 2:00 pm, and our luggage still not there (it didn't get there until after 5:00 pm).

I would not plan on getting your luggage before 4pm and possibly 5pm or later, plan accordingly.

Maybe this question is taboo, but I was wondering how much do people generally tip bell services for picking up/delivering luggage?

We usually have a good full luggage cart of bags and we tip about 20 dollars. I am not sure how that is in comparison to others.

When I'm having them moved I generally will tip $2 a bag each side of the move. Since they are handled several times (room to cart, cart to holding, holding to van, van to holding, holding to room). So $2 per bag when they pick up and $2 per bag when they drop off. Personally I want to keep them happy since I just gave them my bags and won't see them again until I get my next room.
