Split stay at same resort - can I link ahead of time to avoid changing room?

I have a 4 night stay coming up at BLT. Half of it was booked with cash and the other half with DVC points. The room type is exactly the same for both reservations and the occupants are the same also.

I tried to link the two reservations by calling WDW, but they said they could not link them. They recommended just telling the front desk at check-in regarding the second reservation and they would link it then. I would prefer to do it ahead of time if at all possible. Plus, I thought that the rooms were assigned several days in advance and therefore, the second room could already be assigned by the time we check into the first room.

Any guidance?

One other questions - If I do manage to get the rooms linked, do you think it would lessen the chance of getting to stay in the room if we made a room view request?

Thanks for any thoughts!

All you can really do is request to NOT be moved and I really think they try to do this but sometimes they have to. I think you have a greater chance of NOT moving but know it's a possibility.

You have your answer. They can not link these 2 different types of reservations. Request to stay in the same room on checkin. They will if they can but there is no guarantee,

Call Disney and have them put in the notes the confirmation number of each reservation, dates of the reservation, and that you'd like to stay in the same room. Be aware, you will have to go down to the front desk and check out then check in before checkout time.

Also, go to the front desk when you get there and make sure everything is in the notes, that you get to stay in the same room, and the checkout check in procedure.

Can't do that with a cash rez and a DVC points rez. If it was a cash rez via DVC they can link it, I believe, but not if you went through CRO.

This is exactly what I was hoping for (and had always thought could be done). But then:

This must be the problem. Since I reserved the cash part through CRO, I guess I'm out of luck.

Thanks for the replies!

My fiance and I did this. We called ahead after booking to explain and they told us to tell the cast member upon check in. We did and then we also checked in with them to remind them we didn't want our rooms switched the night before. It worked for us.

Yes, but was any part of your stay DVC?

DVC points bookings are special.

I would at least ask CRO to note on that you have a continuing reservation through DVC. That way much like a room request at least the room assignor will see it before you check in. No guarantees obviously but it cannot hurt. It would not hurt to mention that you will accept any room as long as you don't have to move (if that is true in any case).

This. It's to Disney's benefit to let you stay in your room if they can. That way, they don't spend time turning a room for a new guest if they don't have to. It isn't always possible but we've been lucky in all ours (and no, none were DVC) we've been able to stay put. And most of the time we didn't even have to go to the desk to check out/in. I think CR was the only one to ask us to do that. At BWI one time we even got a "room ready" text while just after 6 AM, when they roll the computers over. We were still asleep. In this case I'd let everyone know that I could, both DVC and CRO sides. Hopefully, they can talk with each other enough to get it for you

I don't think you're out of luck doing the two things you commented on.

The first part you commented on isn't linking; it's just making notes so they know ahead of time while assigning rooms. I bet you can still do that. Call and don't ask them to *link* them, just ask them to make notes. And when you check in for the first, remind them, and even stop by later in the reservation to remind them.
