Split Stay....Any Concerns with Luggage Transfer?

In late December, we'll be doing a split stay at SSR and AKV Kidani.

On the day of "the move" we're looking to do an early a.m. check out in SSR, head to a park, and then check in at Kidani later in the day.

One concern I have is the transfer of bags to AKV. Does anyone have any experience (positive or negative) with luggage transfers handled by Disney they'd be willing to share? I haven't done this before......and I'm "cautiously optimistic" about the process.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

We have had no issues whatsoever and we've done split stays dozens of times! We are doing another one on our next trip in 16 days. Luggage arrived safely. WDW does a great job with this, in our experience. :thumbsup2

We have done many split stays as well and have had no problems. It's very easy and painless!!!!

Oh, by the way. If you will have a laptop, portable DVD or something of that sort that you want handled very carefully, let them know and they tag it with a special tag. :thumbsup2

We've done split stays and instead of having them transfer our luggage we take a cab, that way the luggage will be there when the room is ready. When we transfer from AKV to BWV it's a little less than 20 bucks.

We've done it once with only one problem that wouldn't usually happen. We were going OKW to BCV. Our BCV villas wasn't ready until late afternoon and when we checked in my cousin had some shopping purchases that she asked bell service to store. When they delivered to our room they had done a count of bags from the original ticket and had the shopping bag but not my cousins laptop. A quick trip to bell services and they found it.

It was very convenient and I would do it again.

Just did it a few weeks ago.. WL to BCV.. very easy. Just call bell service in the AM they come right up and tag your bags..

We just had a great experience with switching resorts. We spent 8 nights in a Ft. Wilderness cabin before switching to OKW. On the day before we moved I called the front desk to ask how the move would be handled. The CM I spoke with said we would set up a pick up time with bell services for the luggage and then we could take a bus to DTD and switch to an OKW bus. When that CM transferred me to bell services to set up our pick up time the second CM asked if we would be going at the same time and then offered to drive us with the luggage. The reasoning was we were all going to the same place so it wasn't a big deal. The next morning a CM drove up in a big white van, loaded our luggage, we got in and she drove us right over to OKW. It was so nice and easy. And to top if off, our 2BR was ready when we got there, at about 10:30 am.

We always do a split stay & thankfully have never had any issues. How can anyone choose just ONE resort to stay in with so many choices?!? :rotfl2:

Whenever we do it we always pack a small backpack with any 'absolutely must have items' and take it with us--for me its my glasses and contact case/solution. For the kids, I toss their swimsuits in to the backpack. That way if there are any delays or we decide to go back to the resort early we have no melt downs in case our luggage is delayed :thumbsup2

Has anyone had any problems with bell service transporting perishables? We are switching resorts on our last night and we won't have a car.

We did split stay AKV to BCV without any problems. They came for our bags early in morning and and we spent the day off grounds. At BCV they told us we had to be in the room before the bags were delivered. When we arrived at BCV the bags were there in less than 20minutes. The experience was very easy and positive.

As you can see from my Signature, we are split stay experts! The luggage fairies are awesome! Some resorts are better than others in regards to speed of bringing bags to room, but they are all very well organized and efficient!

We have never had an issue, and we've done a million luggage transfers, Tiger :)
