Split Stay and Refillable Resort Mug

With the dining plan I noticed that you receive a refillable mug. Do you claim the mug at your resort CS area? If not, where do you receive it? Are the mugs resort specific, or are they just year specific? The reason I ask is we have a split stay booked; we'll be on the dining plan at both places. If the mugs are resort specific (which I thought I read they were) and you have a split stay booked, do you receive a different mug at your second hotel? I'm not looking for a second mug, I just read that you can't use a mug from a different hotel at another. In that case, do they give you another that is good for that resort?

The refillable mugs are the same design at every resort. There is no resort specific refillable mug (that I am aware of), they may have a resort specific mug that you can buy separate from the ones you get on your DDP. With that said, when you do a split stay and you are on the DDP for both resorts, you are entitled to 2 separate mugs for each person on the DDP. You can only use the mugs you got for each of the resorts, you cannot use one mug for both resorts, they are for the length of your stay. So if you are staying in 2 resorts and there are 4 people in your room, all of which are on the DDP, then you will be bringing home 8 refillable mugs. Makes for a nice collection at home :goodvibes.

You had a good explanation, but what I don't understand is if the mugs are the same design, how would they know if I was using the first one or the second one? I really don't want eight mugs. Now if the mugs were resort specific, I could see why they wouldn't want you to use the first one because it would be a little obvious that you got it from another hotel. But if they're the same design? :confused3

Honestly, in your case I see no problem in using your mugs from your first resort at your second unless you're staying at the All-Star that is using the RFID mugs. You're not going to be using anything you're not entitled to and you're actually saving Disney money by not getting new mugs. :confused3

They won't know. I agree with the PP, that in your case, don't worry about getting your second set of mugs and just use your first resorts mugs when you do your split. The explanation that I gave is one that "Should" happen by "Disney Rules", but truthfully, they wouldn't know if you used it somewhere else. Unless you are staying at the All Stars like PP said :goodvibes.

If you're on the dining plan at both resorts, you will receive identical mugs at each resort. If you don't want the second set of mugs, don't redeem them and use the original mugs. Be cautious if you are staying at All Star Sports because they may still be using the system that requires the RFID chips and you can only use mugs you got there for that stay.

My greatest concern is that the mugs would be resort specific. In that case, I would get the second set of mugs so it wasn't obvious that I wasn't trying to use one from another resort. However, if the mugs are the same, we'll keep our first set only. Thanks for everyone's help!

As with many things,a lot of this comes down to the integrity of the individual and since you won't be doing any wrong either way, it's really your call (just keep in mind the caution about All Stars RFID system if applicable).

FWIW, if I had the space in my luggage, I would probably take both sets and keep the others as souvenirs/gifts :)

Our stay is mostly at POFQ and with a couple of days at the end at AKL, so the All Stars issue won't factor in. I have thought about getting all the mugs as you suggested for souvenirs. That's just a lot of mugs to pack; we'll see. I may do that, and if it's too much, I may save Disney some money and let them keep the additional ones. I doubt we will use them very often, or at all, anyway. We're not soda people at all, as we mainly just drink water.

I'm a water person myself but I'd get iced tea. I also walked over with my empty resort mug and my personal stainless coffee mug one morning.

I filled up my coffee mug and left my resort mug empty (brought it to prove I had one). I didn't want the coffee staining my resort mug. I got a weird look from one guest, that was it. I honestly don't know how well they would handle hot coffee anyway :confused3 I don't really believe the labeling, lol.

If I had two sets of mugs, I wouldn't have worried about potentially ruining one with coffee, sounds like you have the ideal setup.

Anyway, the long route to say that when the girls play outside we let them use the resort mugs (nothing to break).

They come in handy! Get your second set and give them away as presents or something. Heck give someone a magical pass it on moment and gift them on your way out to a needy looking family :cool2:
