Originally when we booked our July stay, there was no availability for 5 consecutive nights for a studio a VWL, we had to pay for the 4th night. Our 4th night has now cleared the waitlist and we now have 5 nights booked at VWL but still under 2 different reservations. We added the DxDP to the 1st reservation and the regular dining plan to the 2nd reservation. I was told by the CM that we might be able to stay in the same room but that was not guaranteed until the day we check-in. I was also told that if we do not have to change rooms, we could use our dining credits from the first reservation because we have not checked out. This does not seem correct to me but the logic does make sense. Has anyone had any experience with split stays at the same location? TIA

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question. However I'd like to add my own question too.:confused3
Our waitlist for the last night of our vacation also came through and it has it's own reservation number. So from what you're saying, that last night is separate and they can make you change rooms for that night?:scared1: Experts please help and impart your DVC wisdom:worship:

I think I may not like the answer, but I need to hear it...:headache:

Not an expert but I think I can answer your question.

You can call member services and link the reservations so that you do not have to change rooms. My reservations need to be kept separate because of the different dining plans. Hope this helps.

You can also keep the reservations not linked and only buy the DDP for the first part of your vacation. Credits are good until midnight of your check out day even if you keep the same room.

We find the the DDP is too much food and taking a break from it is a welcomed change. We also seem to have leftover food and credits so using the credits on the checkout day makes sense.

I had 2 reservations in 09 and was able to use the remaining TS credits from my first week to pay for Hoop Dee Doo Reveue that was booked in the second week (paid for it before 1 week expired) Not sure if this was a mistake on CM part but it did benifit me. I had originally had a 2 week trip planned when I made my ADR's and had made the second week TS heavy. When they came out with the Buy 4 Get 3 deal I switched my ressies into the 2 one week ressies not remembering that I had made the ADR's more into the second week. I was very pleased that I was able to use those credits otherwise I would have lost a total of 8 TS and would have had to pay OOP for meals in week 2.

Question: What is happening with the split stay and having the ressies linked under one reservation #. Will this prevent DVC members from being able to have the DDP on only a part of their stay? I read alot of members put it on the first or second resort stay only. How will it work now?

TIA

If you have truly separate reservations, you can have the DDP different or not at all for each portion. However, you will have to check out and back in again on the change day and can ask to stay in the same room but that cannot be guaranteed. If you matched, it's possible they went ahead and linked your reservations, different reservation numbers does not guarantee they did not. If they did, you'll have to adjust your DDP or they may have already done so. I'd check to be sure if I were in your situation. Check out has nothing to do (in theory) with when you can use your credits on the change day, it should be until MN that day. However, some have had things messed up when they did check out.

I doubt anyone knows for sure, at least that can talk about it. In the past Disney has held that any stays at a given resort constituted one stay for other DDP type options regardless of the same room or room type. They were never good at enforcing it but this was the wording with some previous plans.

We have the deluxe plan for the 1st part - 3 days then the regular plan for 2 days. I understand that the credits expire at midnight on the check-out date. Are we going to have to check-out after the 3rd night and will all our credits from the deluxe plan expire midnight that day or can I use all the credits for the remaining 2 nights?

I'm not an expert, but this is what happened on our stay last month...1st three night were in a studio with the DxDp. The snack credits expired at midnight the night of checkout. That was also check in day for our 1bd, which we had the Dp for 3 nights. Those credits expired at midnight on checkout. My waitlist for 1 additional night in the 1bd came through and I still had to go to down at check in again and pay for the additional night on the dining plan even though we stayed in the same room.

To sum it up I paid for 3 nights stay with Dxdp, 3nights stay with Dp, and 1 additional night same room catagory with Dp. All three times everything on the dining plan expired at midnight on the official checkout of that ressie. And yes, we lost snack credits at midnight on the 1st 1bdr ressie even though we were in the same room on the dining plan for 1 more night because it was considered a separate ressie.

Hope that helps:)

Your credits for the deluxe plan will expire at midnight of the day your first reservation ends (or check out for that reservation). You cannot carry the credits over into a new reservation past midnight of check out day.

So if you have the deluxe dp for Sun night, Mon night and Tuesday night and no dining plan for Wednesday and Thursday night, your credits expire on Wednesday at midnight. So you have no credits on Thursday or Friday.

Your deluxe plan credits will expire at midnight on the check out day for that first reservation. They can not extend into the 2nd part of your reservation.

We did a split stay last year and had different plans. They were only good for that day. Now, we did switch resorts, but that doesn't change as once you are officially checked out of your reservation, the plan creidts will expire.

The most important piece is to be sure to use the correct KTTW card that day since you will have access to both the old credits and new credits for that one day.
