Ok, I would like to do a split stay January 2-9. I would like to stay Club Level at Wilderness Lodge and stay at Art of Animation, to be close to DHS and try a Skyliner resort. We are a party of six, so CL at other places, like those close to DHS like Yacht Club, are out of our reach financially.
I also want DDP for our stay. But when I tried to book, the system wants me to buy tickets for each stay, raising the ticket price substantially for six if buying six 5-day passes and then six 2-day tickets instead one set of 7-day passes. Buy the system says no DDP unless I book a package.
If I call Disney, is there a way to get DDP for my entire week without two sets of tickets? After all, the system has no problem with me booking a 5-night stay at one hotel and adding 7-day tickets.
Or is DDP not compatible with a split stay?
Would me getting an AP help at all? (So just the one AP.) Surely, some APs book DDP without buying tickets they don't need?

In case it affects your advice, I'll say that we're doing CL because my husband just likes it AND because I want the CL FPs so that we can do all of AK in one day and all of non-SW DHS in one day. Getting FEA and Soarin' in one day at Epcot without a PPO breakfast is a bonus.
But I'm also curious about Skyliner and want to be close to DHS for our big SW:GE days, because I intend to be early for RD, whether that is 6am or 9am or anywhere in between. So any time we can save in getting there is awesome to me. Believe me, if we could swing it, I would just do YC and walk to DHS instead of relying on transportation.

Call the booking line and ask to book a ticketless package. They will book your room and add the dining plan. I was able to do that this morning. You can then buy your tickets separately.

You will need to book two separate resort packages. On the first resort reservation you can book tickets for the entire vacation. For the second resort stay you can book a ticketless package, but you have to call because it cannot be booked online.

Or you can call and book two ticketless packages and buy tickets to cover the whole vacation elsewhere.

Even when a package doesn't include tickets, it is a package and all the rules of a package apply - $200 deposit for each reservation, final payment will be due 30 days in advance of arrival date, change fees and cancellation rules of a package which are different from room only reservation.

I would do the following:

1) Book a room/ticket/dining plan package for the first stay with tickets to cover both stays

2) Call and book a ticketless package (room and dining) for the second stay

I, personally, would not purchase tickets separately as you would need to pay, in full, for the tickets at time of purchase if you buy them separately.
