Split Ressie and Dining Plan Nightmare and Helpful hints...

We just came back from a great stay at AKV and BLT! We stayed at AKV for three nights and transfered to BLT for the last two nights. It was a very smooth transfer other than the dining plan issues! So here was our dilemma. When we checked out of AKV we were told that our remaining meals were good until midnight so we could use those up first and then once we checked into BLT we could start our new meal plan. Since we weren't going to check into BLT until the afternoon/early evening this was perfect. Well good thought but since they had our ressies linked under one number even though a split stay, our cards went inactive before we checked into BLT.:confused3 So long story short we found ourselves at HS during SW weekend with no dining plan/ inactive cards. Luckily we had cash etc. with but when you pay for the plan you really don't want to have to pay out of pocket. We couldn't even get a bottle of water with our cards. This was tough for our kids who venture off together and like the ability to use the dining plan for water, snacks and meals etc. Anyway, here is the helpful hint part of our story... Make sure if you have a split stay DVC ressie under one confirmation number, it would be wise to go directly to the new resort in the morning and get your new cards before going to the parks. On a positive note we loved how all the meal credits and snacks rolled over to our new ressie and did not expire at midnight. If anyone has questions about the split stay or the AKV and BLT resorts we would be happy to answer any questions.

They obviously still don't have the split stay with dining plan bugs worked out and yet they assure all of us we are going to love to have the option to book DVC online.

I can guarantee it is going to be the worst nightmare ever. :scared1:

YIKES! Okay, so Friday July 1 we are checking into AKV for 1 night. No parks, but DXDP. Sat. am we are heading over to BLT to check in early, so we can add the tix from UT and the reg. DDP to our cards and hit MK. We should still be able to use the room card from Friday night to roll the dining plan meal and snack credits through Saturday at midnight, correct? Two different conf. numbers, paid for DDP in 2 sep. transaction.

we had problems with DDP and "split stay" 2 weeks ago where we ended up booking a split stay on waitlist and then both "legs" of the stay came though so we could stay at the BCV the whole time. We did the same regular DDP for both legs too. For the room we only had to check in once but for the dinning plan we had to restart it on the day the initial split stay ended and the other began, (but they had initially told us it would just carry-over and we didn't need to re-check in for the DDP). So the day of the change over (just to be safe) we went to the front desk of the hotel in the morning and was told everything was good and the cards should just carry over....so we happily went to BB and nope the cards were deactivated, no DDP, so had to paid cash for the counter service....... so that night we went back to the desk told them what happened and they issued us new dinning cards which then didn't work but the "old" ones now worked. It was a mess. Plus beware, snack credits and everything don't carry-over.

That's too bad that your DDP got messed up. We did the same kind of split stay in January but had no problem with our DDP and were able to use our first DDP until the end of the day. There seems to be more and more stories of inactive or deactivated cards. Hopefully they will get it all worked out.

Yes, you should have no problem using your first segment of DDP until Sat. at Midnight. Especially since you have them under two confirmation numbers and two seperate transactions. Good luck and have a great trip! Even if something does go wrong just remember you are in the happiest place on earth!:wizard:

I have a convoluted split-stay coming up next month (one night DxDP - one night no plant - two nights DxDP - five nights regular DP - four nights no DP). I'm getting scared this will be a nightmare.

My question: what recourse is available if credits are inactivated before the end of the day? Is all lost, or can the meals be paid with cash and later refunded (per the unused dining plan credit)?

I had a problem with part of our stay at the Beach Club in February. The dining plan was not showing up on the card when we went out to eat.

I told them to just put the charges on the room. When we got back to the room later, I took the receipt to the front desk and they fixed everything in the computer. I wouldn't worry about charging something to the room and then having them fix it at the front desk.

However, I don't think I would pay cash for something that should be on the plan and then expect them to reimburse me, I don't know if it they can do that.

We leave next week and we also have a convoluted plan - 1 night no plan, 3 nights deluxe, 1 night no plan, 3 nights regular dining, 1 night deluxe, 1 night no plan, 1 night deluxe, 1 night no plan. We will have to see how it goes.

We always do a mixed dining plan since they offered it, but not as crazy as this plan.

I don't know if it will always work this way...but when we paid cash we brought the receipt up the to the front desk and got it straightened out..I am not sure exactly what they did but hubby seemed to be ok with however they fixed it..
