We (myself, DH, DD-9 & DS-5) are planning our 2nd trip in November and have reservations at ASMo (Nov 23-Dec 3). I am thinking about hopping to a moderate for the last 3 days of our stay. Now my question-Which moderate should I choose. I guess to set the stage, Thanksgiving falls on Nov 28th in the middle and I want to change on the 30th. My preliminary itenerary looks like:

Sat 11/23- arrive in afternoon, resort looking & a char. Dinner
Sun 11/24- MK
Mon 11/25- AK
Tues 11/26- BB (we didn't do this on our 1st visit in Dec.2001)
Wed 11/27- Universal (Tues & Wed could be swapped)
T'giving 11/28 MGM (need a good place for dinner-any suggest)
Friday 11/29- Epcot
Sat-11/30 move to moderate- MK while room getting ready
Sun 12/1 pool day -MVMCP at night
Mon 12/2-??? anything we want to do again.
Tues 12/3-head home :(

We would like a moderate that isn't very big, has a good pool for our pool day, good food & good theming for kids (as well as me & DH) Could some of you experts give me some suggestions. I would also like some suggestions for some different (or repeat) character meals. We did Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, CRT-breakfast & X-mas dinner). I am not even going to try for CRT again, but would love some suggestions. I am thinking about 1 Character meal each day (or every other day). I hope that I haven't rambled too much. I am getting so anxious for November! :Pinkbounc :D :Pinkbounc
Thanks! Sandy

Hi Sandy,

CRT now requires a credit card to reserve so I've read it has been easier to get.

If you want a small moderate, I think that knocks all out except PO FQ. That is the smallest of all the moderates.

CSR has the best pool area but is a large resort.

Good luck deciding!

You can visit my CSR website below

Buzz,

Thanks for replying, That was my initial impression as far as the moderates, I'm not sure if my memory is failing me (again) or what, are POFQ & POR sister resorts, like the All Stars in that you can use both pools? I know there is no "pool hopping" but I know that with the AS you can hop to the sister pools.

Sandy

I'm not sure how it works with those 2 resorts. Hopefully someone can answer that question for you.

Can't help you with the moderates, although the small requirement pretty much limits it to POR-FQ. A few dining suggestions for you though.
MGM-Hands down 50's Prime Time. We LOVE this restaurant. Even DD (9) has this high on her list. And I imagine Mom and Brother and Uncle are in their best form for the holidays. The food is delicous!
Character Meals- AK Donalds Breakfastasorous. Epcot Ice Cream Social. At BC, Cape May Cafe Breakfast was VERY good.
Happy Planning!:)

Sharon,

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if 50's Prime time can be used in the Fantasmic Dinner deal? If not, which ones can be. We didn't see fantasmic in 2001, would love to this time. I'm already trying to plan meals. I'm "patiently" waiting on codes & Nov to get here. LOL :D

I have been told recently by CRO that the ones with Fantasmic packages are Mama Melroses, The Brown Derby and Hollywood and Vine.

The last time we were there we stayed at the French Quarter and could use the Dixie Landings Pool. Since they are merged I would say that would doubly apply now.

If you are looking for a small moderate your only choice is PO french quarter!

I think it woul dbe a good idea for you to switch to a mod! it will be fun to experience different resorts!! and to see which type of resort you want to book for your next trip!!! :)

Laura :)

Also, keep an eye out for the discounts for that time (if any come out, it will probably be some time after July 20th). The way they are currently discounting some of the deluxe resorts, it would be about the same as a moderate (at full rate that is). Just a thought.

I am planning on possibly staying at a moderate resort next year, and we have already decided that if we stay at a moderate resort, we want to stay at the Coronado Springs! I LOVE that resort! I've visited at both day and night, and it is such a beautiful resort!!! I really love the Casitas section of the resort!!! I really love Mexican/American Southwest architecture, so I know I'd love staying at CSR. My aunt has stayed at the CSR twice, PORS once, and she said that she'll ALWAYS stay at CSR! (I've been trying to get her to stay at a deluxe - but she refuses to spend the extra).

We stayed at CSR, and I think that if we had kids, we would probably go with a different moderate. It's a convention hotel, so a big portion of the crowds were businessmen. It was wonderful for us, b/c that meant the hotel was less noisy and more adult-oriented. But if we were going with children, I would probably stay at a resort that seemed to have more families.
This is not to say that we were the only tourists there, by any means, but that I saw many more children staying at the GF even, than we say at CSR.
We really liked the hammocks on the beach, too, which is another thing I think that adults would appreciate more than children. Of course, as someone mentioned earlier, the advantage of staying there with children would be the pool.
Cheers!
Heather P

Does anyone know if the sister resorts of POFQ & POR can share the pools like you can at the All-stars? I would like the "smallness" of POFQ, but I think my kids would like the POR pool better. Thanks, Sandy :D
