If I purchase 100 points for BLT and 100 points for AKV does that mean I have early advantage at both for booking? When I book can I combine the points and use 200 for one stay/location? Does it matter if I buy some direct from Disney and some resale? I'm also considering BCV and I understand they are no longer available directly.

Oh, are there any advantages to buying direct other than the comfort of doing so?

I apologize if these questions are all answered elsewhere. I'm currently looking for answers but would appreciate it if anyone could help me out. Thanks!!

you do not actually have the early booking advantage at "both", you have the advantage at each for the points assigned to that home resort. if you own 2000 SSR pts and 25 BLT pts, then you have 25 pts that can be used at 11 months out to book BLT and 2000 pts that can be used at 11 months out to book SSR. at 7 months out, you have 2025 pts that can be used anywhere with availability.

edited to add: you can bank and borrow those BLT pts from that contract to use up to 25 banked BLT + 25 current BLT + 25 borrowed BLT pts = 75 BLT pts for booking BLT at 11 months out every third year. but the SSR pts - banked, current, borrowed, whatever - are still only good for booking SSR until you get to the 7 month window.

only if you are looking to book a cruise or stay at a wdw hotel.

I'm also considering BCV and I understand they are no longer available directly.

any resort is probably available directly. there might be a waiting list for some UY months.

access to the concierge collection, wdw hotels and cruises is the main difference. also, you get points much more quickly when you buy direct (resale can take up to 2 months or so). that's about it...

One more question and I guess this may depend on when you are going but how important is the 7 month vs 11 month booking window. We normally go May, June, October, Sept and occasional early Dec so not busy times.

DVC busy times are not the same as the parks. October and early Dec are pretty busy DVC times--matter of fact, in early Dec, most owners book 11 months in advance and getting the Epcot resorts or BLT during October is tough due to F & W.

IMO, I would buy at a resort you are comfortable staying at, unless you know for sure you won't be booking before 7 months and then it does not really matter.

as sandi says, DVC busy times are not necessarily the parks' busy times - early december is a super-peak DVC busy period and booking your home resort at 10-11 months out is common.

for may and june and other periods, you will probably have several options at the 7 month window - the key is how disappointed will you be if you can't get anything but your home resort?

if you're just happy to be onsite at wdw, buy a cheaper resale at SSR or OKW and book your home resort at 10-11 months out and try to change at 7 months. if you won't be happy if you're not at BLT or BCV or whatever, pay a little more and buy there and book at 10-11 months out.
