were are splitting oure stay in wdw in october into two hotels

• Animal kingdom lodge savanah view first week
• rosen plaza on i drive the second

Is there a better block to be in at Animal kingdom lodge?

Any views on the Rosen Plaza nr Point orlando?

Many people believe a room overlooking the Arusha Savannah is the best and that's where we were when we stayed. It's the big one in the horseshoe at the top of the map. As you can see, some blocks are quite a trek from the lobby - not a problem for me, but I've read moans about it in the past.

I've never stayed in either hotel, although we've dined at AKL and I think it looks a fabulous place to stay!

However, the general opinion (with which I have to agree) is to leave the WDW resort for last in a split stay trip. i.e. stay at the Rosen Plaza for the first part of the trip, then move to AKL for the end of your holiday for the wow factor.

Zebra Trail at the AKL is a great location, we stayed in room 2423 the view was great, though some people prefer a higher floor.
With that location everything is close by - food court, pool, lobby.

We were given a room right at the top left of the map, right in the corner where we had a terrible view - so disappointing I cried... (well we used an awful lot of dvc points to be there and I was so looking forward to it) but dh insisted on asking to be moved and thankfully they were able to do so. The only room they had free was right near the top on the right hand side, in the 2541 block (don't remember exact number - and also it was a smoking room as that was all they had left)... but facing the lower savanah instead of the tiny one at the top. This had a lovely view and we were very happy up there!

Agreed the end of the trails is quite a long walk, but it only feels long because you are inside the hotel - actually it's a short distance compared to what you might walk at other hotels (eg saratoga springs or As Music which we've done before)

It really was worth all the points that we used, and I loved watching a giraffe strolling past the window etc!

Anyway my point I think is that if you aren't very happy with the view, ask to change.. becuase there are some really great rooms.

We stayed at AKL last Feb and didnt have a savannah view - which we were not bothered about. We were only there in the evenings and went to see the animals around the grounds. It is a lovely hotel

I personally would swap the hotels round and do AKL in the last week. We were there over christmas and stayed in room 3271 on the Kudu trail. Lovely views of the savannah.

Stayed at the Rosen Plaza (it was actually called the Clarion then) many years ago.
Joshua was just a baby then (awwwww)....great location at the nicer end of I drive, Pointe Orlando had just opened and it was great that you could just walk across.
It is a shame many of the stores there have closed, so let's hope the re-development brings it back up to scratch.

Very nice hotel overall, you won't have any problems there.
