Hi All -

I was just wondering if anyone else owns a DVC property with a relative not at the same address?? I recently purchased a 200 pt share at the BWV with my sister - and we could only list a single owner as a contact.

If they are not listed as the main contact do they get membership cards, mailings, etc. Or will everything only come to me - as I am listed as the main contact??

Does anyone else have an ownership set up like this - and how do you handle exchanging info??

Thanks.

We did it with BIL and it worked out fine. You have to keep track of your own points and we were never listed as owners. We did an add on down the road and had some of the points tranfered to us at that point.

If you get along well with your sister I don't think you will have a problem.

I think you have only one official contact and only one address. You can all get cards as long as you're on the deed. Even if not on the deed, one can be listed as an associate member and make reservations, etc. You will not get duplicates offically but you can certainly ask for them and see what they say.

My BIL and I thought about when my DW and I first came back from WDW with the DVC info...we are both finance guys and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something so I gave him the whole rundown with the thought we could even up the points and share it. We figured between the 4 of us and our family and friends we'd be able to rent out our points and not be in any danger of not breaking even.

When all was said and done he decided he would rather not have to bother me anytime he wanted to book something etc. (which is no bother for me I actually enjoy helping people have fun-even if it is just planning) In any case, they decided to get their own (I think the stay they had at OKW using my ponts sold them on it) but in answer to your question - it shouldn't be a problem as long as you have a good relationship with your partner(s).

We have a membership with 4 family members, all at different addresses. We are all on the deed - we all have membership cards (with the same account number). We are all able to make reservations on our own, we just have to coordinate the points usage throughout the year (banking, borrowing and all that - I actually do this for the group so it is centralized). We did need to list a main contact - in our case my dad. Although we all get copies of the newsletter and all other mailings, all of our confirmation forms get mailed automatically to him. This has not been a problem. We all get along and this has been great for us, since none of us could have afforded to do this on our own (although two of us have done add-ons).

My sister and I own 4 contracts jointly and live at seperate addresses. We have the same contract # and each of us can make and change reservations. The confirmation is sent to the address of which ever one makes the reservation. We both receive seperate mailings of VM and the guide book and anything else they mail. We also each received a mailing of the pins which were sent out.

We bought 200 pts back in June 2000 and it worked out fine. My soon-to-be wife (Dec 14th) were able to put both of our names on the contract as owners and we both receive information on it. Granted we only get one guide book and tax information stuff, but everything else, we get two of each year. It was never an issue when we bought. I'm glad to see that she and I went from being friends when we bought to getting engaged and planning on spending our honeymoon at BW. It would've been terrible if we had to split our ownership or even worse.....sell it. I think the world come to end if we had to do that.

My husband and I own jointly with FIL and step mother. My husband is the main contact, but all mailings go to both addresses except for 2 times. They only sent one welcome package with the tote bag (to me) and for some reason FIL got our $200.00 Disney dollars for referring a new member. All four of us can make reservations, but I think those confirmations still keep getting sent only to us. It's not much of a problem, but can be a little annoying. The main point is that we are all on the deed and can make reservations.
