What’s for Dinner Tonight?

The NYS Fair is happening here, but we don't step foot near it anymore for a variety of reasons....the only thing we miss is the food, so we traditionally do a few nights of our favorite "Fair Food" for dinners the week before we go back to school. Tonight we are doing Gianelli Sausage sandwiches with peppers and onions and baked potatoes. I'm making fried dough for dessert(we aren't normally a dessert family, but it goes with the theme.)

At home fair food isn't really fair food... you gotta go there IRL... 🤣

Today’s shack was Captain Scott’s lobster Dock. This place was crazy crowded. Most crowded place we have been. They did have lots of parking. We checked out their seafood market on the way in. It was tiny but everything looked good. The boys grabbed a table and S and I got in line. The line was so long we had to change up our usually strategy of order apps, sit eat, then order entrees it and eat. We waited in like 45 minutes to order so we ordered everything at once.

Steamers. There was a lot of crunch in the bunch. Tasted good other than the grit. Could have used more melted butter

Lobster bisque was fantastic but needed to be warmer.

Scallops were fabulous! Sweet and perfectly fried

Lobster roll. This has a nice amount of lobster meat, which was well cooked. But oh so dry. It needed more butter. That was a trend here.

Bonus they served ice cream and it was a different order window with no wait. I have no idea what the brand was but it was really good ice cream. Super creamy.

Overall it was good and I would go back. It’s no Castellos but I have found the smaller lesser known ones tend to be better.

We are also at our favorite tonight. Flo’s clam shack. We are sharing clam cakes, chowder and fried clams.
I can’t believe summer is almost over. 😩
We are talking about crossing the line into RI next year. I am putting this on our list! Do you recommend one location over the other?

I went to grad school at URI and my good friend lived in Middletown, why did she not take me 😂

What we ate is bolded in case you don't want to read my rambling.

Thursday night we chose a German restaurant. We started by sharing a bowl of excellent lentil soup. For our entree, DH chose Jager Schnitzel. I wanted to try the potato pancakes to see how they compared to the kind my mom used to make. Our other side was red cabbage, which was delicious. I haven't eaten fried food in about four months. It turns out there's a reason for that. :o (More on that later.) Regardless, the recommendation was a solid one. We plan to return on our next stay in the area. We'll just avoid fried food.

Yesterday, I was very nauseous all day. I'm sure the aforementioned fried food was the culprit. If we hadn't had tickets for a comedy show, we would have stayed in. Alas, I decided to give it a go. We shared a burrata appetizer. DH also ordered the bread service & an Italian sausage minestrone soup, after I declared myself done with food for the evening. Even though I didn't feel up to eating, we still had a good time. I'm glad I forced myself to go.

We're back home for a couple nights & need to clean out the fridge. Tonight will be whatever leftovers we have in there.
