Splash Mountain will be down for refurbishment for pretty much the entire month of January 2007. Bummer! :sad2:

Where did you hear this info.? We were thinking about a trip in January, but not without my favorite ride! :confused3

As of Tuesday night, they were having issues with the ride. No idea if that has anything to do with it, but I will never ever forget hearing the CM come over the in-ride speaker while we were stuck and saying, "Sir, please don't rock your log."

No idea who was "rocking their log," but my friends and I got quite a kick out of the phrase and have now adopted it for our own personal usage.

sunday night they shut the tife down around 8 pm and didnt re open for the rest of the night and EMH.

I was pretty bummed about this too as we'll be in MK on January 21st and the 22nd for the PPP.

But luckily Splash Mountain is due to reopen on January 28th so a quick shuffle of our plans means we will now be in MK for a few hours on the 28th :thumbsup2

Haven't been to WDW since 2000 and love this ride. I don't wanna miss it!!

Wow thanks for the heads up! I hope I get a ride before they close it! Actually, I was thinking that it needed a bit spruced up, so it's good they are doing it.

I'll have to remember to tell everyone in my party not to "rock their logs" though! :rotfl:

It doesn't look old though does it? It'd be a bummer if there were paint chips everywhere when we go at the end of this month...

No, don't worry it's great! I just noticed little things. At WDW, we're so used to perfection!!! LOL :rotfl:

This is by far my favourite ride IN THE WORLD!!!
I hope they never decide its had its day and replace it.

There was also a thread about Rockin Rollercoaster being down in January. UGH! Do you really think they would shut down 2 huge rides at the same time??

I know years ago they always referred to September and January as maintenance months due to the small crowd size and might have several rides down at the same time. I think that is when they started or had the cheaper FL resident passes special for those months

I was the OP on the RnR rehab post. At the minute only mouseplanet.com say this will be shut for rehab in January / February (see their September 5th update) - although a DIS member's CM daughter confirmed this. Disney deny it will happen (personally I fully expect it to be closed).

Splash Mountain, on the other hand, has been confirmed by disney (see disneyworld.com).

I'm hoping there won't be too much more closed in January...

When we were there last week, they seemed to be having quite a bit of down time. We were stuck on it for about 10 minutes or so just waiting for it to get back up and running.

I think I'd be unhappy if it were being refurbed during our entire stay, but it does seem to need some fine tuning, that's for sure.

My husband is going to be disappointed if both Splash and RnR are closed. At least he won't be bugging me to ride them this time. ;)

OMG..if my dh heard this one he would have a new phrase to repeat 100 times a day. He usually gets going with the "Howdy Partner...this is the wildest ride in the West" from BTM. I Love the "please don't rock your log"! :rotfl:
