Sorry if this has been asked before....I normally carry a backpack with me, how can I keep my backpack dry on these rides, is there somewhere to put your backpack (I can't remember it's been almost 10yrs since we've been to Disney) When we have previously been to Disney, Splash Mtn didn't get us too wet, looks like it does now??
TIA

on Kali, there is a "tub" in the middle of your raft to place stuff. It's kinda small, so depending on how many people in your raft have stuff to put in there.....Also, not sure how watertight it is, may just keep it less wet.

On splash, there is nothing to put your backpack into. I have worn my poncho on both rides and put my backpack under the poncho. Looks kinda dorky, but it's efficient.

and on Kali, you DEFINITELY want to use it. 1 or 2 people on each raft will get absolutely SOAKED! It's awesome :woohoo:

On Kali, we put everything in my small backpack and the center covered area keeps the contents dry. On SM, I put my backpack in my lap and lean forward for the splashes, keeping the contents dry. Never an issue.

I always put my camera and phone (and anything else i want to stay dry) in a ziploc baggie for those rides. Then the baggie goes in the bag I'm carrying (either a Vera Bradley hipster or a small jansport backpack).

On splash I keep my bag on my lap and as tight to my body as possible.

On kali I put my bag in the center holding area, but don't count on it staying dry. Sometimes the compartment is already wet and sometimes people have bags that are too fat for the flaps to close on the compartment. But at least putting the bag in there keeps it from getting swamped ;)

on kali - I have seen water in the tub -- apparently the trip (or 2) before left it open

if you have to keep stuff completely dry (I'm thinking autograph books) I would put them into a plastic trash bag (or ziplock bags for small things) - store trash bag in backpack - put in right before ride

Thanks for all the info...puts my mind alittle more at ease! :)

I do the same thing on Kali, but I've never worn a poncho on Splash and I can't recall ever having a problem with my backpack getting wet.

I usually try to either slip the pack under my front of my shirt (yes my shirt then gets wet) or put it right behind me. They do have lockers if you are really worried.

I always carry a plastic trash bag in my backpack. It's large enough to put everything in, but takes up no room in the backpack. It also dries quickly if I want to use it again.

We've never had to worry about getting that wet on Spash Mtn. About the only thing has gotten REALLY wet on Splash was our shorts...from sitting on wet seats first thing in the morning.

Now on Kali.....its a whole other story. Use the bins in the middle AND put your camera or anything else you don't want ruined in a ziplock bag. I've only ridden Kali once because I don't like to be dripping wet...and of course I, along with my dd, were the only two that got wet the one time we rode it. I still can believe that huge wave that came over our backs completely missed my dh. On that ride though, the middle bin was FULL and my dh had to put his backpack on the floor.

After my experience with Kali.....:headache:.... I'm going to bring a big black garbage bag with me and put my shoulder bag in it on the wet rides. I had my bag in the tub on Kali and it did a pretty good job of staying dry (relatively speaking to HOW WET we got ), but I think taking the time to put it in another plastic type bag will help next time. Maybe not a big black garbage bag... probably a tall kitchen bag would work.

I've only been on Kali once, and the DBF and I got absolutely soaked. The funny part was that we were the ONLY TWO PEOPLE ON THE RAFT! So the invisible people all stayed dry :lmao:

The time I wore my poncho on Splash, I had dinner ressies and I did not want to go in soaked! HAHA. One time, I got surprise-soaked at the end of the ride on the curve by a rogue wave! :lmao:

Are there lockers NEAR the ride, or just the general ones at the front of the park?

I think I will do the garbage idea.. that way nothing in my bag will get ruined! I don't care about me, probably be so hot, will feel good!! Thanks for all the tips!! :)
