Splash mountain

Define "fix".

I know they will probably clean up the normal wear and tear issues probably a new paint job... But I mean the broken animatronics and just the overall deteriorated appearance

Two and a half months is pretty standard for a general maintainance fix of a big ride like Splash Mountain.

I've seen it when there has been significant mildew on the boats, so I guess there is a lot of cleaning to be done.

Just think of all that dust that builds up on the flowers and thorns etc.

Usual refurb starts next month but, no, not yet.

Specific dates are January 2 to March 19, inclusive.

Thanks. I couldn't find it on Allears. I'm hoping to be there the end of Feb. But truthfully, I'll be so thankful to be there, that I'm not worrying too much about one ride (though it is one of my favorites ;)).

That's the spirit! :goodvibes

It is very normal for Splash to close this time of year, though last year it did not--presumably due to the Big Thunder refurb going on at the same time.

Along these lines, does anyone know what rides will be down for refurb in the month of April?

thank you Mesaboy! I'm sure there will be something being done while we were down there. I was just hoping it was posted.

Honestly, I'm just darn glad this attraction is there. It's one of the best themed and one of the longest rides Disney has to offer. And, after spending five long years not being able to ride it (due to an accident), I was giddy beyond belief to go on it again last year.

So, if it has broken pieces or an "overall deteriorated appearance", I did not notice it. I'm just glad I can enjoy attractions at Disney World again.

Often it is beyond broken pieces or an "overall deteriorated appearance". One of the more famous incidents lately can be seen here -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Nv_xKKv2IQ Every character on the paddleboat finale was broken. Every single one of them. Used to be one AA went offline, the ride was closed until it was fixed, now they run it with over a dozen AAs sitting there limp and dead. But routinely at least 1 broken or missing AA can be found at Splash at any given time. And lets not get started on the "nets" at the load area since parts of the mountain fell off one day (visible here -> http://micechat.com/17628-walt-disney-world-grievences/ about halfway down the article).

I'm happy for you that you were finally able to enjoy the ride again, but it has been having serious issues of late.

And then you would have people on this board complaining that Splash Mountain was down and they couldn't ride it. Disney is damned if they do and damned if they don't.

2 1/2 months is definitely enough time. When I worked there, it was down for refurb for about 2-3 weeks and that was just to drain the flume, paint/clean the scenery and clean the mildew off the logs. I'm guessing this refurb is to do some drastic cleaning of the entire attraction as well as upgrades to the computer system so the ride won't have as many stops/hold-ups for lack of a better term.

I was just to WDW in early November and we rode Splash 3 times, 2 of those 3 times we were on the ride for at least 15-20 minutes due to all the back-ups.

I'm anxious to see exactly what they'll refurb and if the ride will run more smoothly!

I am hoping it gets done a few days early.:thumbsup2 I hated to have a trip to MK and not get to enjoy Splash!

My husband took pictures this past weekend. If you can tell me how to post them, I will do it! Lol
