Since Both Rides are in the Same Area. Whats your Strategy? do you

1. Fastpass Splash then Ride Big Thunder
2. Fastpass Big Thunder Then Ride Splash
3. Fastpass one then Go Do Something Else
4. Fastpass Both (is that possile?)
5. Dont Fastpass either Just Wait It Out , like we used to do Before Fastpass was invented LOL

What Would you Do?

For us, it just depends what mood we are all in. We normally get to Fronteirland around its opening time, so there is little to no wait, anyway. Usually, we will get FPs for one, then ride them both, in the normal line. I come back later in the evening and use the FP for whichever one I got a FP for. Like I said, for us, that varies.

We like to ride these at night and try to do so during the evening parade when you can sometimes ride both without big waits. We also ride them during evening EMH or parties when waiting is not such a big issue. If we are going when it's busier, we'll tend to FP one and ride the other first, particularly as an early morning strategy. Which one we FP depends on a two-dimensional optimization of wait times and weather conditions. Either ride with a wait of 30 mins or less is worth waiting out for sure.

If we are putting something in between and need to kill about an hour, we either go with the Haunted Mansion, Hall of Presidents or Country Bear Jamboree. These are best done with a Thunder Mountain first strategy as you'll freeze if you are wet in these air conditioned venues. If we are wet, we tend to walk around Frontierland and shop, snack and shoot.

It is easy to get back to Liberty Square using the boardwalk along the Rivers of America.

If you're getting there at opening and Space Mountain isn't in the mix, ride Splash and then Big Thunder. You should get through both lines quickly.

if you get there early most days the lines are fairly quick moving. I'd ride both then FP one. No its isnt possible to FP 2 unless someone in ur party doesnt want to ride and you can use their ticket. Thats how my hubby and daughter do it. Me and my son are not fans of big thunder so we all ride Splash Mtn then they FP big thunder 2x. Using 1 FP with t hier card and 1 FP with me and my sons card-we usually watch the Cowboy show with Woddy and friends

My plan for this trip since I am only going to have one day and have chosen to spend it at MK is to be there when they open ride, my friend that I am going with has never done opening ceremonies and rope drop. We plan on riding Space Mtn first, then head over to Splash and Big Thunder, FP on of them and if the wait time is not too bad ride the other or come back later for a FP. This way we get the big three out of the way and have the rest of the day to go about all the other rides we want to go on.

:woohoo:

This past trip we got there at opening and grabbed fast passes for splash mountain (return time was about 35 mins later), rode BTMRR twice, (not much of a line at opening), then rode SM standby, and then grabbed a fastpass for BTMRR before getting in line for Tom Saywer Island. We like to be on the first raft over at 10 AM so we can try to find one of the paint brushes. We did actually find one, after trying 4-5 times on previous trips, and when my boys couldn't decide if they wanted a fastpass for BTMRR or SM, the CM gave us a FP for both!! So by 11AM we had rode BTMRR 2xs, SM, and spent an hour playing on TSI, and also had 2 FPS for both SM and BTMRR for later!!

It depends on the standy-by waits and FP return times of each. We had a perfect scenario last Oct. Splash had a longer wait with a FP return time 30 mins later. BTMRR had a 15-20 min standby. We grabbed SM fastpasses, got on BTMRR, and just a few mins after we were done riding, our FPs for splash were ready.

If it is early and the lines aren't bad, I would FP BTMM and ride Splash. That way, once you are soaking wet, you can travel the mine train and get a bit of a blow dry. ;)

What about if you're doing Space Mtn first? Same scenario, pretty much?

Depends on wait times, if Splash has a 15 min wait and Thunder is 30 then i'll FP Thunder and hit Splash. It's hard to say as wait times will always change depending on time of year etc...

At rope drop, we get a FP for Splash and ride it on standby, then ride BTMRR standby, and by that time we can get a FP for BTMRR shortly. Now, we have already ridden both of them and still have a FP for each to use later in the day.

This is my plan:thumbsup2

My kids like to go on BTMRR before going on Splash so we immediately get a FP for BTMRR and then head for the stand by line. We try to ride as many times as we can and then when we had enough (until later), we head over to Splash and if the line is 20 minutes or less we will hop right into the stand by line, if not (and if we can get another FP) we will FP that and come back.
