Splash Mountain refurb?

Can't find the post where I read this - is it true that Splash is down Jan-May next year? It's really one of our all time favorites.

Do you have a link to the latest refurbs as DIS Boards info only seems to go up to the end of this year, info is a year old on AllEars and I can't see the info on the official site either.

While I'm sorry it's going to be down or so long. I hope they can fix the problem of so much water sloshing over the edeges of the ride log. It's not "Splash" mountain, it's
"Slosh" Mountain.

I totally agree!! Splash Mountain is my absolute favorite ride, but it is such a pain to spend a few hours soaking wet after riding it! DH cannot stand getting his tennis shoes wet, so we have to plan ahead to ride so he can change into crocs, and then after we ride he wants to change back into tennies!

We like Splash Mountain at WDW much better, those logs (which you sit in side by side ) have a groove in the front which seems to channel the big waves away from the log - so you get a nice "splash" but no "slosh"!

It would be awesome if this refurb would include new logs, but I'm not going to hold my breath! It was down for a long time a few years ago, and came back with the same old logs. I'm guessing it would be super expensive to replace them.

They just got new logs a few years ago. Plus the channel is too narrow for the side by side logs.

Ah, yes...I still talk about the "rogue wave" that entered the right pocket and leg of my shorts on our last visit. My shorts were a quick-dry synthetic, but my cotton underpants were happy to absorb the wave. That made for an uncomfortable morning!
