Splash Mountain Refub-Closed Again!!!

Haven't been posting on the boards for a while but I"ve been reading them everyday!!! Just wondering if anyone else is dissappointed that Splash Mountain will be closed in Jan. AGAIN at the same time as the last two years. My DD got married last Jan 15 and was dissappointed that her favorite ride was closed for refurb. DH and I are taking them to Disney for their first ann. and found out that it is closed again at the same time period as last year. DD and SonIL live in the UK- I"m afraid to tell them they will be soooo dissapointed. It is over Marathon Weeken again too. It was also closed 2 yrs ago at the same time when DH and I were there. Wonder why it is ALWAYS closed at the same time -I know it is a slower and colder season but they could stagger it year to year a bit. Don't get the wrong idea I LOVE DISNEY and my DVC!!! Just wonder what they're thinking sometimes?????

Agreed. If the have to do maintenance on rides, you would think they could alternate slow times in early December, January and February.

I completely understand how you feel, as we were there a couple of summers ago, and the Haunted Mansion was closed for the remodel. In no way did it ruin our trip, but if we only went to WDW every 5 years or so, I would have been disappointed. It's one of my favorites. That's why I love my DVC!!! The next trip is only 6 - 12 months away.

Splash has had a January refurb almost as far back as I can remember. Low crowds and low temps make it a logical time to do that ride.

The duration varies depending upon how much they need to do, but you can pretty much mark it down like the BB and TL winter rehabs.

I understand the disappointment! When I was a child my Aunt & Uncle lived in Long Beach, CA so when we visited we would go to DL. Since we lived in MN we almost always went in Jan, which was always the scheduled refurb time for the Matterhorn. I finally rode it when I was 25 and went in November!
