Just out of curiosity... are they only doing maintenance or are they changing anything about the overall attraction? Even if it's just a small change I was wondering if anyone happened to know! Thanks!

They are changing the loading area so it is not such a gauntlet. I have not heard they are changing the attraction.

It's better at WDW but the overall idea of the ride is the same, yes. Just like POTC are both the "same" but also different :)

Is splash mtn the same at DL as it is at WDW?

No, in WDW it's side by side seating. In DL you sit in a line except the back seat which is side by side. Also WDW has an extra scene so inside is a bit different. Might try looking at youtube to see the difference, other than the seating it's pretty minor. The other big difference is the Train runs through the mountain in DL.

Any chance the ride might have soft openings in the days prior to May 26th opening date, or would a soft opening only sometimes work for a ride that is new, such as The Little Mermaid ride? I saw pics. of the newly painted 'mountain' it looks great, so much lush green at the top of the little peaks, etc. Awesome! http://micechat.com/forums/blogs/in...ates-mermaids-mantas-magic-mountain-more.html You have to scroll down until you see the splash mountain renos but it looks cool!!

Jory29, if the ride is ready before May 26th they will simply reopen it early. :)

I don't know, while I saw a site with pictures just a couple days after MC's most the major work is on the loading area. Which of course is internal and would take a helicopter to view. So I'm not getting hopes up, because they may have a lot of work left to do in there.

Other than the seating I feel like the ride goes much faster at DL. I personally think the ride at WDW is much better (the only ride in which this is the case for me). At DL I feel like the boats move much quicker through the scenes while at WDW when you enter the inside scenes the boats slow down and gently cruise through. I think the animatronics are much better and the storytelling is better at WDW for this ride.

Oh wow, I can't imagine they would just open it early as they would have to hire extra cast members to do that, to run the ride. Seems like it would just be easier for them to run it when they posted, but would be very cool if it were open earlier.

The queue area will be nicer without that bottleneck when you get to the final part just before you hop into the log.

Does anybuddy know if the new line will be mainstreamed for wheelchairs and ECV's? Before the reno, the line had stairs so I'm wondering if they were able to get rid of them.

Before abulatory guests entered through the Exit. As I have read this won't be changed (but just in rumors). But the work isn't on the whole queue, just around the loading area.

No, they will just open it early if it's ready. If they don't have the staff they will call people in or move CM's around.

That would be nice but I don't think it would work, I think this one is one that will have to be accessed via the exit. :)

I wish they would put side by side seating at DL...

I like the inline seating because it makes for fun on ride pics. But would like the extra capacity of side by side.

I've never looked into but always wondered if maybe the WDW flume was wider and allowed wider logs.

As for hiring new CMs for an early opening this wouldn't be necessary as the CMs that operated the attraction still work at the park. Those CMs have most likely taken on another attraction and/or role in the park. For an early opening CMs would just have to be moved back into working the attraction so hiring extra CMs wouldn't necessarily occur, although the resort is always hiring and moving people around.
